Calvin, soon you’re gonna learn why bringing snowmen to life is a bad idea.

The lightning would probably turn Calvin’s experiment into a big puddle.

Is it even possible to get lightning storms in snowy, northern areas (Alaska, Yukon, Northwest Territory, Nunavut, Lapland, Siberia)?

You could play “Frosty the Snowman” on your music system, but I guess it is easier to bring a snowman to life.

The storm will be magnificent – all the electrical secrets of heaven! And this time, we’ll be ready, eh, Fritz? Ready… ( Frankenstein, 1931, Universal Pictures, dir. James Whale)

I always loved the snowman strips – my favorite (which I cut out of the newspaper and still have on my bulletin board) is the one where Dad says “you have to admit it’s slowed down the traffic on our road”. We never had that kind of creativity as kids – or adults.

Thundersnow, also known as a winter thunderstorm or a thundersnowstorm, is an unusual kind of thunderstorm with snow falling as the primary precipitation instead of rain. It typically falls in regions of strong upward motion within the cold sector of an extratropical cyclone.Thundersnow – Wikipediahttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thundersnow

It wasn’t plain old lightning in the movies, it wasn’t used in the novel, it was Cosmic lightning. Too random to find the life giving and death dealing cosmic lightning. In the movies Frankenstein had developed a filter so that he could use the life giving rays and separated the death dealing into an accumulator.

I like how Calvin refers to a thunderstorm as “a thunder and lightning storm.” At least he didn’t take it too far (“When do you think we’ll get a thunder and lightning and rain and hail and wind storm?”)In my area, we’ve occasionally had thunderstorms in January and February. There were even a few instances of thunderSNOW.
