Look on the bright side, Frank. Soon, Luann will graduate and be on her own and Out of your hair.
…., Until she meets “Mr. Right,” and has a couple of kids, which she’ll promptly drop On you and Nancy when she and hubby want some “alone time.” Won’t that be fun?
Frank was saving that energy drink for later. This strip comes to mind:

What Nancy would probably get to see in the last panel. Luann might have saved you from seeing Frank like that, Nancy. I wonder if Greg drew Frank like that intentionally?
I suppose some people are of the school that at 18 kids have to be kicked out, work a job, be on their own. Oh but if it were so simple. I think this is a Sunday foible, which reflects the situation people find themselves in with young adults still at home, and given how fraught that relationship can be it is almost unheard of that Luann and her parents get along so well. And this stuff about her getting out and getting a job, and getting her own place? Sure she could do that, but then what about her education? She could try to work and go to night school, and a lot of students do—I did—but that was almost impossible, took me 6 years to finish college and nearly 5 law school. At the time I never thought I was going to finish school. I got through owing all kinds of tuition loans, always extremely poor, and often living in fragile circumstances. And that was 1965 to 1975. Today it’s much more challenging. So give Luann a break. This is a Sunday foible, nothing more.
Since Prudence also lives in the DeGroot household, I assume she is working at the Fuse tonight? It’s good that someone here does, since we never see the owners working there.
Oh and I teach online at community college, and have done it at four institutions. She could do that too, but let me tell you being a successful online college or graduate student is not easy, requires a huge amount of maturity and self-direction, and is HARD! So that is not a quick solution either. No it’s best, for now, that our girl sits right where she is crowding her loving parents.
I guess like in 1970’s sitcoms, the DeGroots have to use a euphemism for sex. Remember how Mr. and Mrs. Cunningham got “frisky”? In Laverne and Shirley they used “vo-de-o-do”.
Frank, just put a TV in her room and she will go directly to her own room with a tub of popcorn and close her door. OR you add a loveseat and TV in YOUR master bedroom so you and Nancy can cuddle and smooch. You know you can get a LED flatscreen TV hung up on a wall? A love seat doesn’t take that much space and they’re cheap and streamlined at IKEA – perfect size for a bedroom.
Nothing was going to happen anyway. Those wine glasses are the size of shot glasses, never get in the mood with those. You would have had better luck with Luann’s Monster caffeine booster.
Be happy that Luann wants to be home with her parents..not many do. It would be an entirely different story if Luann didn’t value an education and was out roaming the streets…

I’d like Luann to squeeze in to watch a movie. Maybe I could show her a good oldie movie from back in the day: “The Thing.”

The last time Frank broke out a bottle and wine glasses, it was prune juice. That was when Brad and Toni announced their engagement:

Toss a little vodka in with that prune juice, and you have a Piledriver…

perhaps the beverage choice for Luann was a way to imply she wouldn’t be dozing off anytime soon.
