The lawyers know that Mueller could get Trump on a perjury charge by asking him what he had for breakfast. What they’re really worried about is that Trump might accidentally tell the Truth and take the whole GOP down with him.
The problem is that a sociopath doesn’t realize he is not “not telling the truth”. He is telling his version of the truth. Sociopaths pass lie detectors… no sweat. (Pun intended.) The term “pathological liar” was coined for them, because they lie without qualm. Kelly Ann Conway hit the nail on the head when she made that remark about the “Whitehouse version of the truth” early in the administration.
Trump has set a historic pace for mistruths during his time in office. He is obsessed with the idea that the opposition to him is overstated while the support for him is understated. He has a very loose grasp on reality, and isn’t walking into a perjury trap – so much as he is someone who would willfully lie to the FBI.
He has undoubtedly decided he can sleaze by, or perhaps that he can pardon himself — the same technique he uses in all of his scams: declare bankruptcy and pull out. (Also parallels with his techniques with his lovers, I expect.) Moral bankruptcy, in this case.
Of course, this is a dramatic misuse of Presidential power, which is why Nixon chose not to use it – it would have been instant grounds for impeachment. Whether this bunch of spineless, traitorous, Russian suck-ups who call themselves Republicans recognize that, let alone act on it, is very much in doubt.

The Rump is too stupid to know that there is no need for an oath. It is just plain illegal to lie to the FBI.

Scarborough hammers Trump: ‘Your own lawyers think you are too stupid to testify’ to Mueller.’

A fine state of affairs when the president of the USA can not be trusted to tell the truth. A man to be proud of for sure……………..

You used to give a president some credibility, but that is gone now.
