This strip is uncanny sometimes. I had a wad of bubble gum back in the early 60’s that I know I kept for six months. My brother gave it to me before a high school basketball game he was about to play in. For some reason my little kid mind decided I had to keep it. That had to be 1962/63 his senior year. I was in the 2nd grade. He will be 73 next week.

I thought “grody” was more of a 1980s slang term than a 1970s one. I’m thinking of when Moon Unit Zappa says “Grody to the max” in her and her father Frank Zappa’s song “Valley Girl”.

Defiantly not my Sweetheart. She swallows. She gulps. She does not save.

After YEARS of Border Collies who disdained play with toys (only with us — wrestling matches, etc.,) we now have a little youngster who LOVES his toys. When he doesn’t have a job going (supervising my husband at work, checking out who’s invading the front porch) or when he wants attention it’s TOY TIME. He is SO proud of his toys, prances around with them, teasing us into making a grab for them, sometimes trying to pick up two at once. Sometimes he even makes it. He’s a riot. When he’s all done he’ll sprawl on the floor, half on his back, with one paw behind his ear.
