My wife does this ( in Spanish, of course ) and compounding the mumbling is my hearing loss.
I never know if she’s talking to me, or herself !

I talk to myself a lot.
It never annoys anyone because I only do it when I’m alone.
Hence the “Talking to MYSELF” part.
