I don’t see the appeal of adult coloring books. But then again I never cared much for coloring when I was Nelson’s age either. May have something to do with being color-blind.

I always thought the adult equivalent of coloring books was called, crossword puzzles.

I prefer colored pencils. I have MY crayons and colored pencils and my daughter has HER crayons and colored pencils. I have MY coloring books and she has HER coloring books. I LOVE coloring. For me it is very stress reducing. I have a small coloring book for grown ups (Adult coloring books just sounds…mind in the gutterish) that I carry with me along with a hard plastic pencil box with a sharpener (high quality sharpener, not the cheap plastic kind). It is great when I am waiting at the Dr. or waiting for my daughter at wherever. I also do Sudoku and word search when not in the mood to color.

Nelson should leave grandma alone, Earl’s finally getting some peace and quiet.

I have on several occasions, sat down with two youngest grandchildren and colored pictures.

The 5 year old is learning about sharing with others, and asking permission to use someone else’s things.

More than once, I’ve inadvertently been caught using one of his crayons or pencils.

The ensuing conversation ( in Spanish ) usually goes:

Him " That’s mine ! "Me " May I use it ? "Him " Only if you ask politely. "Me " Please, may I use it ?"Him " Well, O.K,. but…. promise not to brake it ! "

I’ve always loved to color but it’s really tough on my arthritic hands.

I saw a “mature” pack of crayolla markers the other day. Packaging was just as “mature”.

rather than an adult coloring book, if they are still available, do what my mother did for years, paint by numbers. Takes concentration and is an excellent stress reliever
