An artificial click-to-enlarge version, of this slightly-cropped image, can be found at Mr. Melcher’s blog entry (yesterday). Its parent image can be found here. The oil on panel Woman with a Mirror or Allegory of Vanity is shown, with a different coloration image, and described, by its current-location page (interactive enlargement available there, Google translated). The artist died in 1640, and it says this was completed, not before 1644, by an unknown successor to the artist, perhaps Jan Boeckhorst. The artist’s Wikipedia page and collection (many more under Subcategories at each level).Eighth, of the 9 works, (at least started) by this artist, that have, so far, appeared in Mr. Melcher’s blog, to also appear here (8 total).
