Tried to read it, but it is horribly complex, with too many characters to track (at least for me; I was listening to the books). Show is superb, but Martin has a fondness for killing off any character you might start taking a liking to. It got to be too much for me, and I quit watching.

It’s basically more soap opera than story. Things don’t happen so much because there’s a plot, but simply to give the next episodes somewhere to go. Can’t say I’m a fan of soap opera.

Boys play rough, Sweetie Dr. Lee. Just dressing for the part doesn’t get you anything but rough treatment…just like the boys.Yeah…let’s have more women Rangers. Uh-huh. In Dr. Lee’s case…much as I love her…she’d better be willing to play “Smile” with the boyz. Her place in the game is REALLY ‘under the table’.

Neither have I. But from what I’ve heard about the show, everyone pretty much do hurt everyone else.

You’re not missing much-the books are very convoluted with multiple storylines over an extended timeframe. The series is a blood and gore fest with liberal amounts of sex (of all varieties).. The main attraction is to predict which major character will be finished off next and how will it happen.
