You can tolerate more ibuprofen than Tylenol. Tylenol rapidly becomes toxic.

Being 64, I take a half aspirin daily. Earl’s right though….I have an ache of some sort somewhere I my body almost daily as I am very active and always doing something physical. I try to take pain meds as little as possible for as short a term as possible. Right now I have a large black and blue spot on my hip….fell on a rock while trout fishing on Tuesday. That was the only day I took some advil.

This is the second comic I’ve seen this week that mentioned Advil by name. I wonder what Pfizer is paying for the plugs?

At 71, I take no medications and blessedly, never have had to. The occasional aspirin for a headache or toothache ( rare ) and ibuprofen for a back ache ( less rare than I’d like ).

I start my day with stiff shotand drink another one before bedtime. NO, not whiskey… A shot glass full of apple cider vinegar mixed with a teaspoon of Cayenne pepper !

The health benefits of both are too numerous to list here – Google them, if you like.

A lot cheaper than doctors and drugstores.

I bet Opal has taken a lot more Advils than Earl has considering how weird he is.

Glad to know I have colleagues in the achy-breaky business! At 71, with degenerative arthritis, I do use pain medications, but rely on the advice my grammy gave me (she lived to 98) “git up and keep movin’ child!”

But the best medicine in the world is a good laugh, just fills the old bod with endorphins:) Thanks Brian, for all the laughs!

@Maxi_Haha, tresareus & ladywatcher. In high doses Ibuprofen kills the kidneys. In not so high doses Tylenol kills your liver and other organs. A Tylenol overdose, so I’ve been told, is a very painful way to die. I’ll not have it in the house. I’ll take my chances with the minimum effective dose of Ibuprofen.

I am much younger than Earl but started developing Orthopedic Arthritus in my 30’s and ended up getting disability because of it 20 years later. Ortho art means my back and hips are so stiff that I have trouble moving, but it’s not very painful. Now it looks like I developed Rumitoid arth. in my ankles and that’s so painful that I can’t sleep at night unless I have a dose of Norco or Tylenol 3 with Codine.

Sorry but I have a problem with the daughter looking TOO Young for this “Elderly” couple. She looks like she’s late teens or twenties, and they look like they are in their 60’s (at least). The daughter should be closer to 40’s I would think.Just an aesthetic point I suppose.Love the strip, one of my favorite cut outs and save / sends.

I take Ibuprofen VERY rarely . . . but when I DO, it is the 800 mg tablet. No pain = some gain . . . Haven’t had a problem except occasional thin blood problem (without getting too graphic. . . ).

Since I enjoy a daily drink I CANNOT use Tylenol since it could overload the kidneys and cause MAJOR problems.

SaskSledDogThey, along with their partner in crime, Monsanto, sure do protect their agricultural poisons, and now that bribery of a public official has been declared not to be a crime, expect far worse to come.

Ibuprofen also makes you bleed. I neededemergency surgery and the surgeon had a fit because I had taken Advil. How was I to know a body part would need repairs? I did bruise more, too.

It kills me how you people take freakin’ comic strips so seriously. Brian Crane makes a joke about old age, and you start some inane, whiney conversation about whether or not taking over-the-counter medications can be deadly. SMH

Some of you people need to quit reading comic strips because you obviously have no sense of humor.
