Fishing: an excuse to drink lots of beer and pee in the lake.

Mom brought a cooler filled with American cheese.

Cut off it’s head and gut it? The Calvin I know would normally say “NEAT! Can I watch?”. The boy is slipping…must be altitude sickness from being way up in the mountains.

Good thing Dad didn’t take him deer hunting. If Calvin had to field dress a deer, he would never eat meat again.

Gutting any kind of animal after hunting would turn many folks into vegetarians. Or vegans, if your stomach is really weak.

I prefer catch and release. The joy comes with seeing the fish up close.

Mom only buys boneless cheese.

I understand Calvin wanted grilled cheese, but why couldn’t Mom and Dad have fish?

You guys had to know that fish was going back into the lake. Calvin only thinks ick and gore of imaginary creatures is cool. Harming real animals is against his philosophy. Always has been, even when his mom would describe his dinner as some disgusting entrails to get him to eat.

Sorry, forgot to mention that at his perpetual age he’s too young to fully understand the origins of hamburgers and tuna.

We eat fish and meat because we are happily oblivious on what happens to the animals that are providing for us.

“Maybe they will eat less meat which is what I advocate.” I advocate eating none. Try it, you might like it.

Some people just catch fish for the thrill of the fight…then throw the fish back into the water to fight another day…

Dad probably should have removed the scales too. There is more than one way to skin a fish.

It takes guts to clean a fish.

Why do I think Calvin would love gutting fish?

“There are certain crucial elements not found in any plant that is in meat.” Really? Why am I still not just alive but thriving? You need to research things with an open mind, not start with the assumption that because you like meat no one can live without it. It is true that no one plant food contains all of the essential amino acids needed by humans. Simply combining rice and beans can provide all of them.

My son always wanted to go fishing, but wouldn’t eat fish “with eyes”. I never got one without eyes, I think he liked “pacific squarefish”, only.
