Well, I didn’t see that one coming. Also, tell her she looks a lot thinner now.

I can’t even describe that expression on her face. I’m trying to put myself in her shoes, but I think I would have ran out by now.(the other lady doesn’t have a need for shoes anymore)

The curious thing is that Ethel has one of the most inexpressive faces I’ve ever seen on an anthro in this strip. Even Irving had larger, more expressive eyes than she did. And none of the fan art I’ve seen suggested Ethel would be a snake.

What a shock! She isn’t bad for a snake, but I would have run out of the house,, I would have come back in,, but the shock of a SNAKE definately would have made me run.She is the one that I thought would have been a lizard. WHen little Marx said stealing shoes I figured it was a kids version of souls, but he did mean shoes as Coppee-Turtle said. Her glowing eyes in the darkness added to the creep factor. Also Do you think Ethel has seen herselfin a mirror? She has tu know she;s a snake, no arms would have been the first clue. Her 1st reaction is priceless. My mouth would have dropped open, butSince Holly has seen just one much worse other mutant, but still, didn’t Know it could happen to a friend.

Yeah, my first thought was “how did she dial the phone?”. And, did she have a “where’s my legs, where’s my arms?” moment? Or do anthros wake up feeling perfectly normal in their bodies?

Sorry, misspelled Coffee Turtle, not beenawake too long. And she is not the one I thought looked like a reptile. And I agree, she doesn’t have much expression, but I’ve never seen a snake that showed anything like an expression. Maybe people who own snakes do, but I’ve been a rat lover for so long that I really don’t like snakes.Did rat lover sound , strange? I mean have had pet rats that were so lovable, or something like that.

Now that is one anthro I would not want to be my first sighting. If anything is going to sour you on anthros, a snake would do it.

I guess she used voice commands to call Holly, not having any hands (or feet) any more. I have to say, she’s handling being turned into a tube of muscle fairly well.

Oh, great. One of the two most common phobias…. Arachnophobia (spiders); Ophidiophobia (snakes)—at least in our world. Ethel probably won’t be invited to any more baby showers. Oh…and I am surprised (as often happens with Endtown). I love this story.

And Holly’s upcoming conversion will make them mortal enemies in the predator/prey relationship. Whoops… Hubby was right to have certain qualms, still want to see those Buddy Bombs in action.

I’m guessing Ethel used the tip of her tail to dial the phone. And while I had never guessed a snake, I have to remember that there are at least two Endtowners who are worms.Remember when Doc Chase went to talk to the Mayor who was fishing at the time (after Holly was arrested)? The mayor had a worm who didn’t want to play ‘fishing’ with him. He agreed to help when Doc gave him the number of a worm who was willing to play ‘fishing’ with him.And let’s not forget, some people did turn into actual fish.

Is there any significance to be gleaned from the magazines on the table? I can read the title ends in “IT!”. One has a picture of a tank and the other a ’plane possibly dropping bombs.

Euw- I can see awful scenarios of Holly being scooped up for observation/isolation and perhaps mutating while under while getting an emergency C-section or some such. So many ways things can go really bad at this point.

The ‘fishing trip’ did finally get addressed in Aaron’s Endtown book. Thanks Aaron! “Glass Houses” will be premiering soon. Gerbils leading seeming futile lives in ‘glass boxes’, until the door closes…Then it’s, PARTY time…

So what are those two magazines on the table in Panel Two? The logo of one ends in “IT!” and appears to feature a picture of a flamethrowing tank; the other might be a picture of a plane dropping bombs. Active war somewhere out there?

The thing about Ethel is that, with the exception of the hair, she looks just like a snake. Most of the other anthros I’ve seen have more human looking eyes and other features that make them look more human. The shape of the head is far more like a real snake than Wally’s is like a cat or the reptilians are like any particular lizard. Its very creepy, but well drawn.

I think Ethel looks a bit like Kirbee, but it may just be the hair. But she really reminds me, on some otherworldly notion, of Oliver J Dragon, AKA, Ollie from Kukla, Fran and Ollie. Now if she only had a tooth. Links in profile.
