So now SP and the party of “No!” have become nothing more than a bad dream in the memory of a little girl (I assume Sam won’t be voting until 2020 at earliest). . I hope this is the final arc GT will devote to the self-refudiating grandma from Wasilla.

Ps. Because he posted it too late yesterday for many readers, I’m repeating justice22’s insight into Saturday’s strip, whose final panel gave us our last view of Roland.

‘So,,,,, the “meth lab” explosion turned out to be Hedley’s rental exploding?’

The meth lab explosion was distant and happened some time before Rowland’s gas explosion, which was foreshadowed by his neighbor telling him the place was a death trap and had gas leaks.

    Coyoty,

All we’re told is that Roland “left a burner on” when he left the house, as we saw him doing to make his broadcast on Saturday. What do we gain by hypothesizing another, unreported excursion on Sunday? I prefer the comic irony of a reporter inadvertently turning newsmaker while doing his report.

“He was unable to dash through the flames to retrieve his notes.” Yeah, poor guy. We’re left with a non-report on a non-subject.

Meanwhile, back in Alaska, the question is: What’s the difference between SP and Bizarro SP?

The answer is there is no difference.

palin drome, I agree. We’re finding Garry having to go into Never-Never Land in order to find irrlevant, imaginary points that ultimately mean nothing.

Keeping her in the papers for weeks at a time is fine with me. The Obama administration has sent out the word that it’s time to rally the base in preparation for November, so Garry has dutifully complied with his SP wet dreams. Since the Dems themselves haven’t decided if Obama hasn’t changed enough or has changed too much (i.e. the war, Obamacare, spending, etc.), the one thing they CAN agree upon is that they hate Sarah Palin.

To approximately quote Scott Adams of “Dilbert”, “I hope Gosh doesn’t d-a-r-n me to heck for saying the name of his son Jeepers Cripes”.

(Had to spell out d-a-r-n because this site for some bizarre reason bleeps the actual word.)

ah, enough of the t-baggers. since the story arcs are two weeks old, what’s next? The end of the oil spill? The phony blog video? Well, two weeks from now we may see the wiki-leak docs in the news.

Said Nemesys: “Since the Dems themselves haven’t decided if Obama hasn’t changed enough or has changed too much (i.e. the war, Obamacare, spending, etc.), the one thing they CAN agree upon is that they hate Sarah Palin.”

Well, that’s what happens when you allow people in your party to think for themselves instead of requiring mindless obedience to the Official Talking Points. Not a problem for the R’s, of course…

hancel: The Democrats should love Sarah Palin because she is about the only thing that can save the Democratic majority in the Congress and the Obama (Bush Lite) Presidency.

They chief weak link in any military campaign is it’s supply line. If your force runs out of fuel, ammunition, or supplies, you stop dead and wait for supplies to catch up Meanwhile the enemy regroups.

The party bravado have thrown a lot at SP’ They have made some direct hits. They have used a lot of supplies doing this. Is this a worthwhile goal? Will trashing her accomplish anything, She had the chance of nomination as the proverbial snowball. There are more substantial targets on the horizon. What do the Dems have left for ammo against, say Mitt. You wasted all your right wing hating shots at Sarah. Now I see some Govs an Senators testing the waters. Dems, you wasted your supplies. Lord, could you take it if a third Bush were elected? Perhaps an Agnew descendant? Tricky Dick left some grandchildren.Too bad you shot your load on Sarah.

D * rn it, pschearer, who the heck cares! (Just testing to see whether the tiniest alteration could get around the bleep. Note that with multiple asterisks you space ONLY BETWEEN them; otherwise, the GoComics program will reduce them to one or will bleep the whole word.)

This could be useful in the days ahead when we’ll need to refer to the WikiLeak publisher, Julian Ass* * *e.

puddle, I wish that the Tea Partiers were following Official Talking Points, but that hardly seems to be the case. The fact that they don’t have a chain of organization is both a strength, and a weakness.

billdog, I have to agree with you… your capacity to hate is unlimited, even against those in your own party. Hillary found that out the hard way. As an aside, she’s polling better than Obama is at the moment… I wonder if 2012 will bring us the first woman president? Seems progressive enough to me.

palin drome, I would be very surprised if GT comments on the WikiLeak story. That Anarchist/hacker crowd is alligned with the Code Pinkers and helps form the base of the modern left… they usually end up getting arrested when they show up to protest Republican conventions. Besides, where did those documents ultimately come from…?

Drome, DOONESBURY is using Sam’s Sarah Palin doll (a gift in the fall of 2008 from her father, B.D., to “drive her mother [Boopsie] nuts”, in B.D.’s words) as the center of this week’s story about Palin’s more recent absurdities. It is a shame that G.B. Trudeau cannot draw Palin.

As to the end of last week’s story, the explosion we hear on Friday might have been Roland’s house or a meth lab. It is certain that his house was on fire by Saturday’s strip.

If, Nemesys, the Democrats dislike Palin, can you blame them? What’s to like about the sexually hypocritical semi-termer?

Coot, I agree that President Obama has not moved sufficiently far from Bush-Dick’s policies, especially in relating to the two foreign occupations. At least Obama has made accomplishments. His first eighteen months make Bush-Dick’s look like one long vacation.

Lew, Mitt Romney brings his own supplies: He cannot run against health-care reform, because he signed a plan much like Obama’s five years ago. He cannot run against Obama’s foreign policies, since they are often Bush-Dick’s and they are trying to end these occupations. He cannot claim to run on experience, because he had one term as governor of Massachusetts, and the Bay Staters could not get rid of him quickly enough. Why would anyone vote for Romney? We are just digging out of the results of electing the son of a politician. We want to repeat this with Romney?

Drome, what do you have against Wikileaks? It brings to light much of what we need to know.

Nemesys, you cannot support the tea-bag folk on the one hand & malign anarchists on the other. The teabags want smaller government. What is smaller than no government?

Lewreader: Your analogy is weak. In a war fought with words how can anyone run out of ammo? Dems will have plenty to say right through November.

    Have a pleasant day.

Also, the Prfessor is right. In fact I’m laughing right now.

Brian, Thanks for filling me in on the Palin doll. Having ignored GT for the last six elections, I’ve been getting reacquainted with Doonesbury. Not to take the fun out of today’s strip, I still wonder if GT is using Sam’s dream and the Palin doll to show how politics can divide almost any family originating in the Boomer generation.

(My slur on Assange was provoked by his preposterous claim to have duplicated the Pentagon Papers exposing the government’s two-faced Vietnam policy. Evidently WikiLeak has been unable to catch Gates or the Pentagon lying, except in the case of a dubiously attested heat-seeking missile.)

    Ps. @ Brian (below)

The panel with the explosion is found in the online strip for Saturday 24th, not Friday. Are some of us reading Doonesbury online, as I am, and some of us reading the strip in newspapers on earlier dates?

De nada, Drome, but I do not think that DOONESBURY is that didactic: The politics of some of his characters have changed as the characters have matured. Boopsie is a prime example. For many years, she was a space cadet bimbo, w/out any politics, letting B.D.’s reactionariness speak for her, but when he joined the invasion of Iraq and she had to take over the football team, she grew up. Indeed, DOONESBURY had a strip on it, with B.D. asking her, “When did you start having your own opinions?”

Mike moved to the right in 1994 & has gradually moved leftward, frequently leaving him w/out anyone to support. I believe that he & Kim got so sick of Bush-Dick that they voted for Barack Obama, but I could be wrong. I know that he, like all thinking Americans, was embarrassed by Bush-Dick.

I had heard no interview with Julian Assange, but if he compared Wikileaks to the Pentagon Papers, then he does have delusions of grandeur.

In many ways, Mike Doonesbury does indeed typify the classic thinking American who felt embarrassed by our previous administration.

Now can you tell us what the Raggety Ann doll is thinking, too?
