My husband is fine now, with only one lasting effect to his tragedy, which he is able to work around most of the time.

Thankfully, most of his nurses were pretty OK. 2 days after he was brought in, he needed a second surgery. They actually “lost” him on the table twice, but he managed to pull through. It was also our older daughter’s 8th birthday. At his insistence I brought her presents when we went to see him after work & school. His darling day nurses wrote a “Happy Birthday” message to our girl on the wall chart, and before opening her gifts, they brought popcicles for her & her little sister, and hung around while she opened her presents. Those dear women really helped to make her birthday a lot better than it could have been, and we’ll both be forever grateful.

Then the kid opens the window and looks out: “Where am I?”“In the Village.”“What do you want?”“Information. (Health insurance, bank statements, etc.)”“Whose side are you on?”“That would be telling… You are patient number 16-006.”“I AM NOT A NUMBER – I AM A FREE MAN!”“He-he-he-HAH-HAH-HAH-HAH…”

Someone shrank Opus!

I went on to the Bloom County 2015 Facebook page immediately after New Year’s Eastern Time. It had already changed to “Berkeley Breathed’s Bloom County,” with the Facebook message, “This page has recently changed it’s name. Is it offensive?”

GC may be catching up this week (when FB has so far just been from other years; of course, those may run here next week).

As far as posters go, a P-51 Mustang never goes out of style.
