I’d be willing to eat jelly beans from a coat pocket, but from a pants pocket? Maybe not…

Yeah, Earl – better get a plastic bag for the beans. It works well with gummy bears, too.

And that’s why Earl is not a sweet, lovable, older gentleman. Sweet, lovable, older gentlemen don’t carry around cheap, crummy, old jelly beans. They carry gourmet Jelly Bellies! Far superior!

I’m reminded of the time Charlie Brown was offered jelly beans by Pigpen, who proceeded to enumerate all the different colors he had, including black ones. Charlie Brown said they all looked black to him. Pigpen looked more closely and agreed. Then Charlie Brown made a face and said he didn’t feel well.

When I was a wee slip of girl, there was this old guy at church who always had a package of Clark’sTeaberry gum (reddish-pink)and another package of Clark’s Black Jack gum. If there was a kid sitting next to him, he’d share. Even though I’m no fan of black licorice, I’d always choose the Black Jack. Whichever I chose, he’d take a stick of the same. We’d chew our gum during the sermon, and make “toothless” faces at each other. I wish I could remember his name

It’s not a lint-covered jellybean story, but tthe strip instantly carried me back 40+ years!

Jelly beans aren’t the point. The loving bond between them is all that counts!

I believe a curmudgeon is best with raspberry jam. Oh, wait. I thought he said “scone.”

Ew is right. What does it say about all of you that you assumed he would pull a fist full of jelly beans out of his pocket and I pictured a bag of jelly beans?

wrapped individual candies might be better. mints seem especially grandfatherlike or possibly avuncular.

    “What if you don’t have a grandson?”~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Then go with what you got. (Girls like jelly beans, too.) No grandchildren? The, eat them yourself. Or do yourself a favor. and buy Dark Chocolate…Yum!
