He clarified by saying nobody should allow their religion to get in the way of fulfilling their oath of office. Then he had to clarify again to say he meant that for Muslims, not for Kim Davis.
I thought in this country any qualified citizen could become president? It constantly amazes me how these conservatives can claim to be patriots who defend the constitution and then preach discrimination at every turn. It appears their real goal is a christian conservative, white, and very rich capitalist president only. The rest of us are there only to pay taxes and shut up.
U.S. Constitution, Article 6; “but no religious Test shall ever berequired as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.” So long as Carson limits his comments to what HE personally would do, no problem. As soon as he even hints of making a law to that effect, he is flouting the Constitution.
I’m old enough to remember when a lot of people were worried that Jack Kennedy would take orders from the Pope. And a Jewish president? Not yet. And don’t even think about an atheist.
Sharia law is a RELIGIOUS law, just like Canon Law in the Catholic Church. It cannot, and should not be used as a defense by Dr. Carson, or any other Islamaphobe.I think a whole passel of Christians would be surprised if Kim Davis’ version of “Christianity” were to be our proffered law of the land!
mikefiveAs one who has observed the phenomenon for eight decades, I would say there are certain similarities. It does in degrees, you know, and can change over a lifetime. The doctor seems to be increasing from associating with Republicans, who are increasing the fuel supply. Traditionally, Toms were non-partisan – forced apathetic, actually.

However, you can be president and hold the launch codes if you think the world is 4000 years old and Adam and Eve rode dinosaurs.

As always, the little “footnote” is the best. I am always amazed at how good they are!

Carson may be as dumb as a stump (or a Trump), but at least he isn’t QUITE the crybaby that some other candidates I could mention are…..
