Opal what you should make a smaller size cake not the big one. For me strong chocolate does not sit well the paler the better.

Devil’s food cake with thick chocolate frosting, Yummmm! The only time I ever get that is at a pot luck somewhere. Himself doesn’t like chocolate, which I suspect is un-American.
