I guess, Calvin isn’t that energetic when he has to engage in outdoor activities with his parents.

Walking is good for your health and builds the character!!

If Calvin keeps complaining, his parents may tell him to go take a hike.

And if you go over to Garfield you’ll see…

Calvin, you should have brought Hobbes along, it would be so much more enjoyable

I don’t remember this one as an original C&H. However, I’m still waiting for the one in which Calvin burps and his mother asks, “What do we say?” and Calvin answers about a barge.

You just know that if there was a pool around Calvin would be full of beans.

I wonder what’s powering that chair. A bean dinner?

With his little legs, Calvin takes 2 to 3 steps for every 1 step his parents take. The distance is the same but the effort required isn’t.

Even the chair is ‘exhausted’!

“It’s a lovely day today, and whatever you’ve got to doI’d be so happy to be doing it with you!”

There was a sketch on the short-lived Dana Carvey show about lifting armchairs for old people that went the next step and could get up and help them walk, play tennis, and so on.

The effort for Calvin is not the walking but the keeping to the path, and to mom and dad’s pace.

Happy July 4th everyone, and of course…

I’m like Calvin, I hate going for long walks!

Especially in this horrible heat.

My dad didn’t think it was real fishing unless you had to walk at least a mile to the fishing spot

Kids! They run around all day with seemingly inexhaustible energy, but take them hiking and they are tired even before they hit the trail.

Less talking more walking.
