    Mr. Evans has quite cleverly clued us in here as to who’s saying what:

    Pink is for girls, blue for boys (obviously, no?), which is establiashed in the first panel. Also Quill is taller than Luann & the balloons’ positions indicate that, too. And again in the second panel the same balloon relationship is repeated.

    Third panel sets up the suspense (???), and the fourth panel intensifies it… then just leaves us all hanging. And the balloons have subtly changed from their earlier postion.

    Very nicely done, Mr. Evans!==

    actually around 1920s is when manufactures decided to PUSH pink for boys and blue for girls(before that there was no push for a particular color) as a way to force parents to get new furniture and clothes if new child was different gender than previous one, and than in the 40s got switched up to blue for boys and pink for girls…….. in general, blue is always a popular color, and pink was one of less desired, it has only become big time fav of girls thanks to the “pink toys” since the mid 20th century in ads …………… not many people bought apples until the slogan “an apple a day keeps the doctor away”, the saying has nothing to do with doctors recommending them to stay healthy , at the early 20th century is when advertisers saw how much power they could have

    I see two possibilites:

    1. “Uh” = “Not quite ready to go there, pal.”

    or

    2. “Uh” = “Hold on, Sparky. Let’s be smart about this and take action to prevent any unintended and undesireable consequences”

    Pinkie (1794) and The Blue Boy (1770) are famous paintings displayed together in the Huntington Library in San Marino, CA. They have been inseparably paired in the public’s imagination since they were both acquired around 1920, and most people think (incorrectly!) that they were painted by the same artist as companion portraits. In any case, that linking of the two paintings has certainly enforced the blue/pink color scheme that is now used for boys and girls.

    “That is the power of marketing by way of mass psychological manipulation.”

    It reminds me of when Diet Pepsi and Diet Coke came out in the 80s and my best friend and I seriously thought we had to choose between the two of them. So we did a taste test and chose Diet Coke. I bought Diet Coke for years, until I realized there wasn’t that much of a taste difference to warrant brand loyalty and started buying whatever was cheaper. Now I don’t drink any sodas at all anymore as I’ve come to realize they are all garbage. What a number the entire food industry plays on the people. It’s very powerful propaganda.

    Goebbels learned his techniques from watching US television, as he had no training whatsoever in marketing or propaganda before he was appointed Minister of Propaganda.

    Goebbels considered all Jews to be sub-human and would never have been influenced by the ideas of any Jewish person, and that would include SIgmund Freud. One of the acts that Goebbels was responsible for was burning books that he felt were unGerman, and the books of Freud were among them. Also, for some reason, the books of Helen Keller.
