Yes, it’s real, and too many people have them. Several friends of ours have one, and they think it’s funny. They move it every night to give the impression that the elf is really alive and checking up on the kids from a different vantage point. I think it’s a little creepy, too. But then, so is the “Santa sees you when you’re sleeping” thing.
I’ve got several friends that have them, but now they stress over the inevitable question “Why didn’t he move last night, Mommy?” They have to get creative all of a sudden, or let the kids down.
