I can’t remember the last time I saw a test pattern, and I don’t recall an Indian on any of the test patterns I did see.

Okay, had to read up on test patterns. The Indian head disappeared in the 60s not because of political correctness but because color TV required a different type of test pattern. With 24-hour TV since the early 80s, test patterns haven’t been a common sight in the US for around 30 years.

I wonder if anyone under the age of thirty would even recognize the test pattern at all.

In Central Illinois, one station played “High Flight”, another “The Star-Spangled Banner”. Then they both went to the test pattern with the LOUD tone. I think it was to wake up those who’d fallen asleep in front of the TV and get them off to bed. ;-)

I’ve discovered Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee and now can’t imagine how I ever got up in the morning without it. No, wait. I didn’t get up in the morning. The earliest I got up was 12 noon.
