    There is an Irish meal, called “Trifle”, it’s very fine. Put this under the nose of Hobbes, surely it will waken him up!!

    You don’t ever want to be in a lifeboat with a tiger.

    I have a tabby like that; she doesn’t understand why I won’t do hands on play with her like I do with the other cat.

    I’ve never had one made with whiskey: good weekend project since it’s so cold outside (again).

    I really liked “Life of Pi”. Compare it to “The Wizard of Oz”, especially the end of the story. Everyone played a part in the “dream”.

    @algurka, from yesterday:

    “No, gender refers to inanimate objects, which have no specific sex. This is grammatical. Sex refers to living objects, and therefore is biological.”

    Please use a Dictionary. And, in case you think (for some reason) this use of “gender” is a modern invention, my ‘56 Merriam-Webster’s confirms it.

    I watch “Life of Pi” and reversed the disc several times trying to understand the lines the actor said that summed up the point of the story. Never got it. Can anyone explain it to this old lady?

    Trifle was my fave dessert, until I tasted teramisu (have no idea how to spell that Italian dessert, don’t care to look up, and why should I, when you guys will cheerfully correct me:—)

    I’m sure Calvin realizes that living with Hobbes is an adventure and vice versa

    " . . . (if the pedantic grammar-police will excuse my floating preposition). . . ."

    If anyone tries to correct you, they would be wrong. There is no grammar rule that prohibits ending a sentence with a preposition. Check any grammar book, and if you do find one that says so, please let me know so I can send it to Richard Lederer of the San Diego Union Tribune who has written a series of articles about this very subject and has challenged anyone to find this rule in a legitimate grammar book.

    Watterson just released his first original cartoon in nearly two decades: a poster for the documentary “Stripped,” which celebrates comic strips and explores the decline of the newspaper industry.

    With that in mind, here’s a story; Little girl is upstairs getting ready for bed, waiting for Dad to come up and read her to sleep, Unfortunately, she didn’t like the book he brought with him. “Daddy, why did you bring the book I didn’t want to be read to out of up for?”
