Strange reaction from the topsiders. Are they for real?

I was just thinking that. Pretty weird.

At first I figured the Topsiders couldn’t see Wally, but the last panel has them all just kind of standing there, arms down. I’m with Diggerspop – they may be Ditto incarnates!

Either that, or as previously noted they can’t see him.

Maybe it’s true they don’t see him and the topsiders are mysteriously falling, either knocked out or dead. That would explain none of them pulling their guns out in yesterday’s panel four. I won’t go into explaining why a mass detector won’t work, it just won,t. A thermal camera might because of body heat and being so close to the topsiders that the dittos couldn’t hide them.

I do not see any floppy pinkies, but neither can I see their faces. None of these are adult females, except possibly one in panel 4. I’m thinking this is an academy, remember the Hitler Youth from History. At adolescence they were separated by gender, with males and females kept separate for several purposes, but mostly for a selective breeding program. Males were more desirable then, as the alpha women, in their terms, were for breeding ubermenschen and the rest of the women and men who did not meet the standard were to be consigned to being tools, or cogs, or cannon fodder. [Tries to get control of runaway train of thought. Note to self: stream of consciousness writing is overrated. Maybe this talk of man and Superman has me wearing my underclothes over my lazersuit.]Ahem, as you can plainly see, stream of consciousness is dangerous just about the time the Lunesta® hits. Aside: Lazers aren’t illegal, but most sanctioning bodies do not allow that type technology.I am starting to think these TopSiders might be real, but inexperienced, and cannot see Wally, his clothes, pack or gun, but the first three could approximate Wally’s suit. The Freeplay ray gun may emit a pulse or signal the TopSiders can see, or at least approximately from whence it came, without seeing from whom. Yeah, thermal imaging could do that at short range. Ditto side affect maybe. Long term exposer to may cause….nobody reads the fine print.

That’s right – some topsiders are reacting to an attacking, invisible foe, but some others are apparently standing to attention. Weird.And… is EVERYONE left-handed in this world?

Creepy, all the desperate emotion pouring off of Wally, and the silent, non-moving white suits..

They might not see him, but they would notice if the Topsider standing next to them was shot by nothing at all. I’m leaning towards the ditto theory now…

Something is sure strange going on here. Wonder what tomorrow will bring. Wonder if we have to wait until Monday to find out.

Surely at this rate he’s just got to tell those dang dittos to get lost. Better off without them.

This IS weird…the Topsiders are being entirely too…docile and quiet.

Y’know, the dittoes need not be Wally’s dittoes…they could be part of the wild-and-free dittoes that terrorized Sparkplug…the burned-out Albion West could all be illusion…

The Topsiders are all standing and acting like Cybermen or Borg. Maybe they’ve taken that next step, if they’re not ditto illusions.

If they’re robots, why the suits?

There’s the attack tail again!

Maybe the Topsiders are in a ditto illusion of their own…

Possibility one is that this is a training simulator and the Topsiders are actually robot targets. Possibility two is that Wally is having a nightmare. Possibility three is that Wally is having a nervous breakdown. Possibilities four to six million would take too long to write out.

I know this may seem bizarre, but looking at panel 4, the first thing that comes to mind is the Borg. It’s like all of them in their ship, standing in the power-pod alcove things. Unless you directly interact with them, they’re pretty much inert.

The Dittos read the mind of the user giving them what they need to see at the moment. When he was chasing Holly above the Dittos gave them a way of stopping the chase with the drone fake-out. Now I bet the Dittos are reading his want for a reason this happened and to leave this place. Filling the wreckage with Topsiders he imagines. Probably give him jump by showing him a pack filled with dust instead of his love.

My thought was that the dittis felt his anger and gave him something to KILL. Complete with bushy tail. Why Holly has not spied on all this is a positive thinking.Blessings on the new year.

Thought question: This is an underground sewer, and some types of fungi and other nasties like fumes can cause hallucinations. Could the Albions have destroyed one another during a period of mass hallucination?AND I still submit for your thoughts that all Topsies seem to be the same height and build – maybe there is a height requirement?…

If dittoes are disguising West Alboin to make it look like its been sacked then Wally may have been firing his ray gun blindly into heaven knows what and unwittingly causing all sorts of carnage. Ouch!!!
