Finally…FINALLY! The “Come to Jesus meeting” arc this week.. Gunth… pay close attention to what Quill has to say. You can do this Gunth. You can re-light this fire with Rosa and keep it going!

Well, that’s the first alternative… the second is that you both realize you need to “GF swap.” Just do it carefully and tactfully, to both yourselves and the ladies.

-Gunther says as he observes Quill’s untucked shirt.-If you look more closely, you’ll see that Quill’s jacket, which is what is facing Gunther, is longer than his untucked shirt. So Gunther probably can’t see the shirt. What he is probably commenting on is how much later Quill is getting in from the dance than he himself did….

Maybe our friend L was a debator in college, and learned to start a discussion by proposing something that others would passionately oppose?

I think Quill living at Gunther’s is just what Gunther needs. Having shared a room with my older brother, it was always good to have that other point of view. The best advice he ever gave me in 1963 was to enlist in the navy and avoid the draft. I did and it was a great learning and growing experience.

-There should be no fear of rejection here-But this is the true hallmark of shyness and fear of failure: you don’t believe you are ‘entitled’ to the attention of the loved one, so you can never quite believe that you and your attentions are welcome. I remember high school days when (VERY briefly) some of the ‘in’ crowd were willing to let me spend time with them. Of course, I had this skill at copying their Mom’s signatures so I could write them absence excuses. As soon as that novelty wore off, so did the attention.

    -

I can see that same resigned disbelief in self in Gunther….

The quilt matches Gunth’s shirts very well, and his headboard and footboard are so mauve. The pillowcase is white, so it isn’t part of a sheet set or bed in a bag. And those jammies. Starry, starry night. Loosen up, Gunth. I’m not so sure you should listen to Quill though. He didn’t even unbutton his jacket at Makeout Ridge.

Mr. L, we don’t see Frank and Nancy having sex, so why should we see Brad and Toni? However, one only has to view the Dec. 7th single panel to know that they do. Are we to assume that having finished there tea or whatever, Brad sends Toni home?

-“Disbelief” is an accurate term. Of course, it is practically the same thing as Gunther thinking that Rosa is lying to him.-Not to split hairs, but the term I used was ‘disbelief in self’. The meaning was not that a person saying ‘I love you’ is lying; the meaning is that the recipient of those words is not deserving of them….

I insist I am right because no one can show otherwise-what …. said:-Since Nancy (nor Frank) are often shown in the strip as brushing their teeth and other preparations for bed, but have NEVER been shown having a bath or shower (nor other private bodily functions) then we can only assume that Nancy (and Frank) really stinks.-Sometimes, you just have to take a certain amount for granted because there’s no way it could be shown in a family comic….

Gunther was created as the quintessential nerd type. Evans would have to seriously re-cast him as a different type to effect needed changes to his personality, much as Brad was recast from the slovenly potato headed big brother to more of an “everyman” character.

^^Well said, Gunther should stay Gunther.I guess we can assume that Rosa didn’t dump him, but, he is feeling very insecure about the relationship, since Rosa “put her cards on the table”.

-That would solve a multitude of problems.-But it would leave you with so little left to write about, here at least. Just the same ol’ stuff about Brad and Toni and Nancy the cougar. Don’t you ever get bored with the same stuff, over and over?- You said you write novels, and it’s too bad we couldn’t figure a way of getting them somewhere that we could read them. Maybe you just need to start a blog and bring bits of your writing to post on this board each day. A refreshing change of pace….

-Not optimistic the bible guy will get it.-He gets it, but doesn’t agree….and I think he laughs each time someone calls him the ‘bible guy’. He uses the name of the book that’s supposed to spell out rules to live by, yet advocates no-nos according to that book. Interesting contrasts….

YER ALL WRONG...I lost track of all the claims, just felt like saying that..TJ is currently a semi-wunnerful personBrad and Toni give all evidence of up close and personal, but until it is spelled out, we can pretend/assume there is only unquinchhed desire.Characters can show development, even Dirk and Shannon and Brad.Nancy is not a cougar, just a hottie attractive lady.Next year Lev will be on the best seller list.Gunther is being reasonable to doubt he is worthy of Rosa, but he WILL be..And no matter how certain I might pretend to be, I am cluelessly enjoying the comic and comments.

Gunther would be just as big a Dweeb with Luann as he is with Rosa. Rosa is practically throwing herself at him, and he is not confident enough to do anything about it. Gunther’s problems have nothing to do with his feelings about his girlfriend; they have to do with his feelings about himself, sex, and life in general.
