I’m sure they will have some fun stories to swap about how they trample people’s liberties.

If you have the technology to take information from others, what makes you so sure you can keep that information to yourself?

Remember: it happened because of the Patriot Act instituted by none other than President Bush. Experts said at the time that what the government was going to do with that was take away the rights and liberty of the American people. The American people said, “Please take away our rights, our liberty and freedom to protect us against those terrible terrorists…oh, and please start a war for us, too.” The people were warned by statesmen and justices on both sides of the political divide—-most conservatives, however, said “President Bush and John Ashcroft won’t use it against US…just against those terrorists.” So, please…don’t blame it on the Obama Administration. Some talk above about Alaskan independence. Not such a bad idea. Especially in these days of debt-paranoia. After all, Alaska takes twice as much in Federal revenue than it generates. Taking the state as a whole, each Alaskan receives the equivalent of more than $7400 in subsidy from the Federal Government. The people of NO OTHER STATE are as heavily supported by the Federal Government as Alaska. The top six states for contributing more per capita than they take from the Federal Government are Delaware (way in the lead), Minnesota, New Jersey, Connecticut, New York, and Illinois. Note that all six are firmly “blue” states. Of the 20 states where the people give more than they take, 16 are “blue” states. Of the 30 states where the people take more than they give, 19 are “red” states. If the country were somehow divided in two, with all the blue states in one union and all the red states in the other, the blue states would be much more prosperous than they are now, and the red states more insolvent, cut off from the Federal trough.

asked, “Anyone here actually believe that America isn’t hacking China’s systems as well?”

The “outrage” against China is amusing to watch.

In the depth of his Watergate problems, Nixon went to China. (Remember the ridiculous circumstances of “ping pong diplomacy”?) Bad timing, naïve negotiations, and the Chinese government has taken advantage ever since. Eventually, an formerly powerful, older civilization, especially one with the sophistication of China’s and also India’s, will overwhelm a younger one. Nothing personal – it’s only business.

Since none of this is new who is responsible for not knowing? We seem to be busy blaming the messenger. Bush told us the same and the media have given US details for years. Now it’s a surprise and unacceptable? Go back to sleep you’ll feel better after your nap.
