Doonesbury by Garry Trudeau for May 28, 2013
Transcript:
Reporter: Mr. Speaker, any comment on the reports that the White House is only spending 5% of its time on damage control? John Boehner: The White House can do whatever it wants. The Congress will continue to be guided by the best interests of the country. We'll be using 45% of our time investigating Obama scandals, 40% obstructing Obama's agenda, and 25% blocking Obama's appointees. Reporter: Any time left to govern? John Boehner; Do the math-- we're already giving 110%.
pawpawbear almost 11 years ago
Too bad they don’t give that 110% somewhere else. Like in Chad.
Linguist almost 11 years ago
Veritas ! You sure won’t find that in the House.

Garry again hits the nail 100% on the head.

If congressional mission is to name post offices for 8 years. Then what?
King_Shark almost 11 years ago
What percentage of his time does the Dronemaster spend on planning to murder innocent Afghan, Pakistani and Yemeni kids? As a brown Asian male, I wouldn’t mind knowing the answer. Unfortunately, only someone like Ted Rall would have the integrity to ask that question – not Trudeau.

Thank you for being one person who sees things for what they are.

Obama and Bush are both war criminals. One doesn’t have to absolve the latter to point out that the Nobel Peace Prizident is a mass-murdering neo-imperialist war-pig.
CasualObserver almost 11 years ago
There are way too many self-described patriots who will continue to spew their vile partisan misgivings until this country is called “Republika”! Drones are a fact of life…like gunpowder when it was discovered. I view war as a necessary tactic to defend our freedoms, nothing else. Drones will be part of that now.
CasualObserver almost 11 years ago
I apologize for the redundancy, for some reason I can’t delete the duplicates.

Yes, the word “cancer” gets boring after a whilelet us not speak of it, just wince and smile
CasualObserver almost 11 years ago
That made me laugh…thanks!!

Great one GT!Also, the prez did address several issues regarding drones in his recent speech. Put yourself in his position. He has to do something when we are threatened. Boots on the ground don’t make us popular overseas either, and at least less American lives are threatened. Times change. War ships are not appropriate for this era as they once were. New technology is here.

So am I the only one that thinks Richard S Russell acts like he owns this cartoon strip?GT might be right, the Democratic Senate has done nothing to lead this country.

Apparently, Trudeau thinks the job of Congress is to rubber stamp the president’s proposals.

Benghazi. Benghazi. Benghazi. Benghazi. Benghazi. Benghazi.
There. 6 beatings of the dead horse. Week’s quota fulfilled. Mission accomplished.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<<<<<<Yes, go away family and friends of the four murdered Americans. As Hill said“What difference, at this point, does it make?” You know, an American consulate presence on a foreign land is burned, the flag peed on and four murdered Americans.Mission accomplished indeed.

Think it’s time for Trudeau to come up with a symbol for Obama like he did for Clinton – waffle and Bush W – Roman helmet. May I suggest ’Sargent Schultz", as in “I know nuthing!”.
kaffekup almost 11 years ago
Well, 2001-2006, Congress did rubberstamp the “president’s” proposals and look how things turned out. That was OK then, though. Now they don’t even consider them before voting No. I guess it does save them a lot of time and brain cells not to ever have to read a bill again.

According to some people, Obama can’t shoot hoops, or go on vacation, or golf, or watch movies, or take his wife out to dinner. He’s not supposed to do anything but slave away.

I read in the news that Speaker Boehner is a known alcoholic.
capral almost 11 years ago
Blocking an agenda you disagree with is governing, as is investigatring abuse of power
kaffekup almost 11 years ago
And yet if the Democrats had done that, it would be treasonous and the cons would holler bloody murder. Same old double standard..I almost might believe it IFThey hadn’t pledged to block the aganda on day one before they even heard it andThey hadn’t voted down things they themselves had supported earlier andThey supported things that actually helped the American people instead of denying and filibustering everything..Why, it’s almost like they hate Obama personally and will do anything to destroy him, even if it takes the country down.

The Capitol building or whatever building often tilts back and forth in Trudeau’s comic when something objectionable to him is going on inside.

Don’t forget an extra 25% for futile votes to repeal Obamacare: “Jobs, jobs, jobs,” parroted Mr. Tangerine Man.

We elect party nominees.
I agree that is criminal stupidity, but I don’t know that I would go so far as ‘war crime’.

Hard reload fixes them too – unless it doesn’t ..?

If there were any actual scandals to speak of – Benghazi, the IRS, AP? Much ado about just a little bit. Yeah, 4 dead, a tragedy. Fake and timely outrage (since it’s the dreaded Obama) is just more loud-talking minus substance. Political groups gaming the system? None of ‘em, D or R or TP should get a single tax break. AP? Start with the judge that gave the go-ahead…such mindless squawking! You don’t like the “propaganda”? Go listen to the Nuge, or read Newsmax. Unbiased “truth-tellers”.
UltraL almost 11 years ago
Such baloney.

Those horrible, horrible poor people. Isn’t there some way we can get rid of them and their wanting ways? I can hardly afford the guy who repairs my automobile elevator!

Yeah. All the problems in this country is the fault of Congress. We need to get rid of Congress.

“masterskrain said, about 4 hours ago@Fiendly Neighbourhood TerroristWhat percentage of the time do the Mullahs ofIslam spend on planning the murder of innocentIranian, Pakistani, Libyan…Etc…Etc…kids thatdon’t follow their EXACT form of their“Religion”??Can you say Sunni Vs. Shiite??”
And, precisely, how does this justify the Nobel Peace Prizident’s war crimes, including “double tap” drone attacks where people trying to help those hit by a strike are droned in turn? Get this clear, genius: any “strategy” that creates more enemies than you kill is military idiocy. And you can’t get away with saying something is moral and ethical just because you claim it is. I’m not even mentioning Obama’s support to Al Qaeda gangs in Libya and now in Syria.King_Shark almost 11 years ago
How about you Americans just keeping your noses out of the rest of the world’s affairs and seeing how that works? A novel idea, I know. Too bad so many of you are hard wired to believe you have a right to rule us all.
route66paul almost 11 years ago
It is a lot worse when both sides of congress and the president are all controlled by the same party – then, there are NO checks and balances
Bandera_Ken almost 11 years ago
The fact that Stalin killed more people than Hitler didn’t make Hitler any less a war criminal.
Bandera_Ken almost 11 years ago
We elected the government and that makes us war criminals? Not me. I voted for Gary Johnson and other Libertarian and Green candidates for other offices. Can’t blame it on me.
Bandera_Ken almost 11 years ago
Bush wasn’t a war criminal? Bush invaded two countries without a declaration of war and one of them had don’t absolutely nothing to us. Conducting agressive war got Hess life in prison as a war criminal.
Bandera_Ken almost 11 years ago
Usurper? You mean someone who takes office when his opponent got more votes?
Bandera_Ken almost 11 years ago
You mean the lie the members of the Bush administration told when they all admitted there were no WMD? Bunch of lying liberals.

The coverup? OMG, Susan Rice was on TV shows covering up!!! How dare she lie under oath like that!

Congress doesn’t govern, it works in the best interests of the country, which is fortunate because Obama doesn’t do either.
