I have a bad feeling about where the bullets went. Did they hit a bystander?

Endtown DestructionBased on “Eve of Destruction” by P.F. Sloan, popularised by Barry McGuireThis deep down world, it is explodin’,Violence flarin’, bullets loadin’,Y’can give a friend your hand, but not your protein,You say you’re livin’ free, but you don’t know who’s votin’.‘n the only voice you got right now is riotin’ and shootin’,But you tell me over and over and over again, my friend,Ah, you don’t contend this town will end in destruction.Don’t you understand what I’m tryin’ to say? This place is the last town on Earth we can stay. There’s enemies up topside who’d blow us all away,Drop a cobalt bomb, really make their day,But still we tear ourselves apart as good as they,And you tell me over and over and over and over again, my friend,Ah, you don’t contend this town will end in destruction. No, no you don’t contend this town will end in destruction.

I’ve wondered that too – do personalities lead to certain animal traits, or does it go the other way around?

Well, this kinda feels like how Kent State started, minus the population setting the military base on fire.

A thought just hit me. Al was on the council, at least for a short time. And the council members are supposed to be secret, right?

Could it be that the cycle in which new council members are selected keeps a certain number of councillors in power, while only one or two are rotated—just to keep up appearances???

Logic is my specialty, and this sounds logical to me…

Oh, yeah. HANG THE RATS!!! ahem That is all.

And this is why you don’t put your finger on the trigger until you absolutely HAVE to, otherwise you might get hit in the face with a bottle and then accidentally pull the trigger and gun down a number of innocent civilians!

Trigger Disciple, it’s there for both you & them.

Well I sure hope that those are rubber bullets. But somehow I don’t think so..Well we have seen where one person has mutated and become as big as a dinosaur. It may be that one person mutated and became all these rats. That might explain some things.

So when Endtowners go topside foraging they bring ray guns that can be set to stun but the rats use real bullets on their fellow citizens? The rats were surrounded, there’s no way somebody or something didn’t get shot.

Any predictions? I’m guessing the dog with the radio. Or, if he’s lucky, just the radio.

Actually I’m thinking Kent State, Boston Massacre(3/5/1770) LA Race riots have some strong points in common with the Endtown situation. When the sheep convert their anger to action power, the results are niether righteous nor pretty, just furious.Poor Ben,; lad, we hardly knew ye.

I don’t think anybody’s commented on it yet. But The quote that Aaron used to accompany “Jacob” on last week’s Endtown auction may provide a hint of what is to come.<br?“Conscience is but a word cowards use, devis’d at first to keep the strong in awe: Our strong arms be our conscience, swords our law. March on, join bravely, let us to’t pell-mell; if not to heaven, then hand in hand to hell”William Shakespeare, Richard IIIThat provides a hint to Jacob’s mind. If he doesn’t value conscience, there would be nothing to keep him from having Velda stage the trial (and possibly have his defendents executed) to help destroy Allgood and move himself towards a position of greater power.Just a thought.

So. . .what happens if the rats go down and the citizens get the guns? Does Allie, Wally, or someone else go and break out Holly, Maude and Linda? Does someone go after the panda? This could be bad.

Don’t know if it’s possible, but… Since they all, essentially, live inside a big underground box, maybe the next step will be a little “calming” gas in the ventillation system? Hmmmm….. ;-)

Back from West. Will post tomorrow on the strips. Still soaking in all the devastation. Compared to the Boston Bomb, (I know folks got injured) it was a firecracker compared to the West explosion. This in West literally blew buildings apart. The return force pulled elderly residents thru the open windows out on to the grass now all covered with glass and debris. I saw a front door moved from the front to the back of the room covering 10 feet and imbedding in the wall just as if it was now the new entrance. There was a wooden fence with a hole in it like a car had driven thru it. It was no car. It was a large product moving pipe weight nearly 800 to a 1000 pounds. It came from the plant. Landed in the alley busting thru the fence and imbedding itself in the side of house about 4 feet. It touched the ground once at the fence. The house was 30 feet from the fence. The news does not mention nearly fifty to a hundred folks are now suffering from eye damage from the shock wave busting their retinas. The firefighters could only be identified by their teeth. Nothing else was left. I can only compare it to the old nuke films showing the blast force pushing things one way then reversing back to the vacuum created by the blast. None of the worst area is rebuildable. It is all due to bulldozing after folks get what they can. The town now has no large employer. The plant employed nearly the whole town one way or the other. West will still have its Czech foods and culture but the rest was just crushed. Only one elementary school made it. The high school, junior high, and another elementary have to be demolished. To much structural damage. I saw old houses tilting from the direction of the blast. It amazes me no more folks there were killed. I visited with one of my ATF friends who is an explosive expert. We agreed the railroad tracks between the town and blast site elevated the shock wave just enough to not kill at ground level but the force was enough to destroy anything in its path as it moved over the town.Been a long weekend. Heck of way to spend it. Did what I could to be nice to folks. They were sure nice to me. That did hurt but in a nice way.

On the strip. This is a set up by the Council. The rats should have never been sent. They are security not the police which we know they have. This was all to create an incident which it has. Sacrifice the rats so now the townfolks have GUNS. NOW institute martial law. Lock down Endtown.I fear for Allie. And Stormwing is right. Never have finger on trigger unless you plan to kill what you are aiming at. These I think were the same three sent to protect Allgood. (Reason for the comment made to them). They are not top line. Probably scrubs without real skills. (Reason finger was in trigger).Reactions.Folks back away going “ohhhhhmmmmmmggggggg”Folks press rats in retaliation. Rats go “ooohhmmmgggg”Rats open fire in defensive circle to clear safe zone.(Fear for life)I can identify with the rats and the crowd. Been on both sides. Protester and stand post against protesters. The match has lit the fuse. There will be blood.

A comment on the strip: The Security Rat in Panel Two, who says “Stand your ground”…the one the other one calls “Ben”…does the writing over his shoulder patch read “Tim,” or is it just my bad eyes (and bad computer) deceiving me?

I have a feeling this will turn out to be another Boston Massacre.

also, I have a little theory about the rats: because most mutations are pretty unique the individual, even if there are some similarities, no two mutations are the same… except for the rats. Because of this, my theory is that they were actually rats before the mutagen outbreak, and were effected differently than humans.

“Why did only two rats come?”There are three rats. They’re there only to break up a bar brawl – shouldn’t need more, normally. The auto weapons are for show – if you show a large enough spray of hail, people disperse the way you want them to, regardless of how small you are in comparison.

I think I finally hit on why the rats act like the Keystone Kops and shooting all the time. They’re too small to be taken seriously otherwise. Give them batons, and people would just kick them out of annoyance at getting their ankles whacked.

Being a rat lover, it’s hard to see even cartoon rats who really need taught a lesson being hurt or killed. I’m still hoping for rat-re-training, like getting clean and sober, wearing working, clothes in jobs such as " Rapid Rats at your service" or sweeping up in grocery stores, barbers and beauticians. A good rat will clean your finger-nails and cuticles, and could become “rodentists”.

My my, how odd. It’s nice to see all the comments about the strip itself (I’m new to the strip, so thank you for explaining the terminology to me. Aaron, you really have some DEVOTED fans)

To me, as a student, I see something interesting: anyone notice the relation to the Boston Massacre, 1770? An angry mob where which a mysterious man throws a projectile, an officer fires, turmoil arises..

hmm, impressive to draw on history!
