The rear window on a bug opens? They never used to when my dad had his three, but that was in the 60’s

Love Red and Rover…..(but don’t think the back window on a Bug doesn’t roll down…didn’t on mine)

    Punch Buggy Green!

…and, no, I don’t think the rear windows opened on a Beetle, either, (and the wing windows are missing) – but I’m too nostalgic for my folks’ old ’61 Beetle right now to care.

    Waitaminute! Big brother can drive?

Some VolksWagon bug back windows tilted out at the back side and were secured by a metal folding part. The hinge was at the front end of the window.

Knowing this is Martin’s car, the back window was probably broken out and covered over in plastic, which Rover pushed out.

Split windows they called them, Rover wouldn’t be able to hang his head out that’s for sure!

Windows like that on imported cars didn’t roll down. If they opened at all it was vent style only at the rear to provide ventilation. It was impossible to hang out the window as Rover is doing.

    Two rear-engined cars in a row – isn’t that a Corvair?

Oh we still had the dogs after we had our sons, and dogs and cats afterwards. What I meant to say was, these 3 dogs WERE OUR KIDS, then we ended up with 5 kids! LOL!

Reminds me of my Käfer. I didn’t like tailgaters so close to my engine, so I turned one of the windshield washer nozzles so it totally missed the car. When tailgated, I gave the windshield a rinse – and they had to back off until their wipers could work too.

GBaines is right-judging by bumper and body style this is an early 60s VW and the back windows did NOT roll up/down-some popped out a bit- like the old Saab 95s.

Brian, I vote for a broken and missing rear window. Just for Rover.
