Tom the Dancing Bug by Ruben Bolling Presenting Charley the Australopithecine in "HOW THE APE BRAIN ASSESS RISK" You know, 9.3% of Americans have diabetes, and it's the 7th leading cause of death. Charley: Mm-hmm... Every year, there are over 30,000 American traffic fatalities. Charley: Gotta just send this one text... Heart disease is the leading cause of death, killing about 600,000 Americans every year. Charley: Right. Scientists predict that climate change will lead to a global catastrophe, killing millions. Charley: Okay. There's a group 6,000 miles away that wants to kill you, and they just killed two Americans. Charley: WE'VE GOT TO GET THEM!! OR WE'RE ALL GONNA DIIIEEE!

Charley has an excuse: he’s an australopithecine. What’s yours?

Brilliant observation by the cartoonist, although I don’t see why the australopithecine is necessary. It would be just as effective, perhaps even more so, to have the protagonist be a human, perhaps one of the stock characters from Chagrin Falls.

The irrationality of the human brain. It’s just those darn statistics and data again…

So that’s your excuse? “Look over there!”??.It’s not all about conservatives vs. liberals. It’s about idiots. Only the “We’re all gonna die!” part is purely relatable to specific conservatives (Lindsey Graham, September 14, Fox News Sunday), and Bolling isn’t the fool in this case.
