My late loving wife was a pet groomer for many many years and that was how she remembered people. She saw the pets longer than the Humans and it was just easier for her that way.
When I meed someone new at the dog park or walking their I make a note on my phone. It is dog’s name = Person’s name. I’ve referred to the list many times.

A dog person for sure.

Yeah, I’m much better with the dog’s names than the owner’s. I know all the dogs at the dog park; the people not so much.

Same here. When I was a kid, my parents told me I was crazy, because of my remembering only the dogs names, not their owner’s names.

It’s much easier to recognize neighbours from a distance, or bundled in winter, by the dogs they walk.

In a new town I phoned the grocer: " Hello, I’m Mrs. F"……Hm? “From across the road..”……Er..?? …….“Jacky’s mum”………Oh, of course.

The name of the dog in today’s Bliss might be a challenge for some of you. A nickname is definitely in order.
