He’s comparing Petain to Biden; and DeGaulle a right wing French nationalist General, to Bernie. He missed his calling, working for Lyndon LaRouche. Or Jim Jones.
The fellow in a beret is Ted. He is being told that the reason Hitler defeated France and installed Petain was because the rest of France didn’t support Charles de Gaulle when he knew that de Gaulle was the guy all the time. And Ted, who is so clever, sees this as a response to anyone who would criticize him for repeating, day after day in cartoon after cartoon, that to support Biden is to sell out. Because Ted is more Bernie than Bernie. But the difference is, Bernie cares about the country. He gave a speech yesterday demonstrating that love of his country. Ted, on the other hand, just cares about being correct. I would guess that Ted voted for John Anderson in 1980, for Ralph Nader in 2000, and Jill Stein in 2016. Because Ted is holier than all of us, and it is just too darn bad that Ronald Reagan, George Bush, and Donald Trump all became president. It wasn’t Ted’s fault—he is a “purity pony” and so he is going to show all of us! Take that, America! Ted’s way, or, gosh, I guess the only alternative is Hitler!
False – and rather ludicrously overstretched – comparison, Mr. Rall. Pétain was only in office because France SURRENDERED. Some of us have not surrendered yet.
Obtuse to me, I enjoy Teds work and followed WW2 history but this sailed way over my pointy head. Thanks to all the smart people that helped unpack it.
The false equivalency of today’s cartoon notwithstanding, I was given more insight today by Ted’s tweet about not voting for Biden because he (and other progressives he knows) HATE Biden, not because of a grudge about Bernie getting screwed. Hate is selfish, irrational and destructive. This explains so much.
Stop calling yourself and your ‘progressive ponies’ progressive. You refuse to move forward. Roadblocks is a more apt term. You’re like a wind-up toy whose feet keep moving but you’re stuck in front of a wall. You aren’t moving forward, you’re just making noise.
The Prime Ministers of France during the years running up to Hitler’s invasion were all Socialists. They failed to make concrete plans for defending the nation. Pétain was a vocal critic of their neglect & De Gaulle was his protege. Say what you want about Pétain’s actions as the Vichy leader, he only came in to take the fall for a defeat that the Socialists were responsible for.
Ted would rather peddle this nonsense, than talk about the role leftists had in driving Germans to support the Nazis as the party of “Law & Order”. Replace Pétain with Hindenburg & De Gaulle with Ernst Thälmann for a more accurate metaphor for Biden & the extreme left.
I can’t imagine a dumber, less informed take than this.
Will Rall and his adherents ever realize that they are a small minority of the voting population? The only way they get their “plan of action” is by imposing it on people who don’t agree with it or don’t want it. Until they recognize the basic plurality of the US population in which all must have a partial voice (aka compromise), they will be whistling in the wind.

Can someone explain this? Even with punctuation added it means nothing.

A bad analogy. Here’s a better one: would you rather have to deal with Hitler or Hindenburg?

This has got to be the most obtuse, abstract, straight out bizarre anti-Biden piece I have ever seen.
I bet Rall will be laughing when I’m in the KZL.

Lately Ted seems to be showing all the moral fortitude and backbone displayed by Al Harrington’s Wacky Waving Inflatable Arm-Flailing Tubeman

Ted is no longer wondering what he would be doing in Germany in the 1930s. He’s doing it now.
