Val: Tonight I talk to mom and Joan about pulling more weight around the house. Like it or not, they- Joan: Val? Mom and I need to talk to you. We realize we could help out a lot more. Even if we can't help financially, we could lighten your load by grocery shopping, and fixing more meals. And if you leave me the car, I can run the kids around after school. Val: Who are you and what have you done with my real family? Joan: I could even do yard work!
I had wondered how 2 adults living in her house somehow don’t add up to the help of a working partner when she spoke about her male colleagues having wives to leave less on their plates. And Holly and Alix are old enough to help Grandma cut up the stuff in the evening that someone assembles into the casserole that Joan can put in the oven late the next afternoon when she gets her coffee or Max his snack.
