Our cat much prefers to go outside and drink from the saucer under the fuchsias. She’s also quite fond of the puddle under the green roof drain which drips well mineralized water.

Woe to the junior sailor who tries to impress his United States Navy chief by scrubbing the chief’s coffee cup.

I use a different cup each day because I don’t want to drink a bitter cup of coffee….Ew

In the old days, a girl out in the West Texas border county married a rancher. She found his cabin a mess, and while the men were out working cattle, she cleaned it, including the three inches of old coffee grounds in the tin coffee pot. That even, over coffee, the men started looking at each other, and the coffee pot was examined. She never did that again, but it was a long time before the coffee was right again. Keep in mind, this was six-shooter coffee. Double handful of ground coffee and boiled until a pistol would float in it.

I used to take a hose to the lawn for all the chicken poo and they would follow me, drinking the water before it could soak into the ground. They have eaten all of the grass, so I don’t do it anymore.

They do tend to get kind of “slick” over time…

There is a restaurant (two actually) in town most noted for its charcoal grilled burgers. Rumor has it that the flavor comes from the 80+ years of “seasoning” on the grill.
