This cartoon DOES reinforce my image of Lester sitting in his cell and drawing on the walls with big crayons. Someone comes in and takes a snapshot of it before they wash the wall and he starts again…

You have to pass a driving test to get a license. Or do you prefer untested drivers on the road with you and your family? You still have to be a citizen to vote.

Wow, how original. As was stated on all the other cartoons of this type:1. Driver’s licenses don’t allow them access to polls. That’s just another stupid meme.2. Undocumented people are going to drive anyway so:a. Allowing them a license that states they are undocumented allows them to get insurance so:b. If they get into an accident, the other part doesn’t have to eat it.3. Getting a license not only has them take a test that shows they can operate a vehicle, it also records their address. How clever!

That sure is better than nothing, don’cha think?

Overall, another hack comic promoting a false meme. Same ol’, same ol’.

Lester does make a valid point, but I’m afraid that the voter suppression in red states exceeds any clerical errors made in liberal states. If the majority of Americans self-identify as conservative, why are there only half as many who self-identify as Republican?

Mike is ignoring the fact that illegal immigrants are too smart to attempt voting illegally unlike Jared Kushner who registered to vote in both New Jersey and New York where he registered as a woman to avoid detection. Republicans tend to achieve below average educations but this level of Republican stupidity is just laughable. https://www.newsweek.com/jared-kushner-woman-according-voter-registration-records-672322

Lester, being all bold with his name calling. He’s smart enough to know he can’t get away with anything stronger, so he makes do with code. “Illegal aliens”.

He’s pushing it so hard “conservative” is going to end up being code for “racist”.

Let me make it easy for you, Mike. You are referring to a specific group of people. This is a no no. You’re not referring to Caucasians, otherwise you’d want to close the Canadian border and shutting down our international airports. You are using language that everyone knows means Hispanics.

Feel free to call their behavior illegal, if you like (even though it sounds stupid). Illegal driving. Illegal murderers. Illegal cartooning. Illegal commenting.

But don’t call the people themselves illegal. I gotta hand it to you, you’re careful about how you portray African-Americans. You should apply the same principle to all people. Patronizing, but at least not overtly racist.

there are so many “legal citizens of voting age and of all ages” that drive without licenses or insurance. At the very least, if an “illegal” is driving with a license, they are at least driving legally, and hopefully with insurance. Also this refers to Caucasians, Blacks, Hispanics, Asian etc, no particular ethnic group cited

The federal law does not prohibit noncitizens from voting in state or local elections, but no state has allowed noncitizens to vote in state elections since Arkansas became the last state to outlaw noncitizen voting in 1926. Though it remains illegal for any non-citizen to participate in federal and state elections, federal law leaves it up to the states to decide whether non-residents can vote in local or special elections. Non-citizens currently can vote in some local elections in 11 states.

I always love these kind of satirical cartoons that make fun of Republicans who don’t seem to understand that one must be a Citizen to vote in US elections.

Political cartoons are supposed to make a statement, this statement is so unrealistic, it’s an out and out lie; EVERYONE has to pass a test to drive and as Hermit48 says, “you still have to be a citizen to vote”.

Lester, purveyor of plain lies, flat lies, inflated lies, and decorated lies.

The right wingers cannot imagine that illegal aliens are human, so of course it chaps their asses to hear that people are treating them as though they were capable of being law abiding, capable of learning a skill, capable of holding a job. And yet, clearly they are. In my state, you cannot obtain a drivers license without showing evidence of insurance. Thus, in my state, which does allow illegals to have drivers licenses, we are more likely to find that folks who have been in an automobile accident are at least minimally insured. And of course, that drivers generally, are more likely to have passed a drivers test. I much prefer that to demonizing folks who are, after all, mostly about taking care of their family by working hard.

We all remember the zaniness produced by Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach who claimed more than 18,000 illegals had tried to vote in his state. However, Kris was made to look the fool when research found this claim was based on the records of nine non-citizens that tried to register but never voted (but he did get one conviction of an illegal immigrant voter – so obviously the $3.2 million of taxpayer money spent on the investigation was worth it).

Driver’s licenses? I’ve held driver’s licenses in five different states (and even one foreign country), and I was never required to prove or even declare my citizenship status. So how is a driver’s license supposed to “prove” a person’s citizenship status if that’s a requirement for registering to vote?

No, if citizenship status is to be required for anything, then the federal government (are you listening, Congresspersons?) must institute a national ID system, including a citizenship registry, which would be the only valid “proof” and must be accepted as valid by all states and localities. Because according to the Constitution, the only relevant citizenship is national. A citizen of the US is automatically, always, and instantly also a “citizen” of whatever state they reside in, regardless of how many times they might change their residence.
