Loving the singers, actors and musicians does not stop you from being racist. It just means you like the money being brought in by these people and the entertainment value. But unless they are famous, will you still be ama! happy they are in the same class as your kids, in the same neighbourhood as yourself? Will the police not still stop them only because they are driving an expensive car? Will you be as happy that your son or daughter chooses one for a spouse? Will the press be as respectful to the black politicians as the others – they certainly weren’t with Obama! And the clincher: how many pro- Black Lives Matter cartoons did you publish?

We can be bombarded with all the popular culture in the world where the entertainment and media industries led us to believe everyone is represented because: #1 they “have to” follow the rules of inclusivity by law to avoid facing discrimination lawsuits and most importantly, #2 the exploitation of stereotypes and the patronization of other cultures and ethnic groups produces money in a market where we have all become a product to sell you something or to entertain the masses; Sadly, this is nothing more than a façade to make us all believe everything is fine and we all live in this ‘goody goody’ world where the sun always shine, everybody is treated rightfully and we can all hold hands and sing ♫ Kumbaya, my Lord, kumbaya ♪… Oh pleeease! Most of us are aware about the real world.

That’s a tough question. But I would say the question posed by the caption is phrased rather poorly, because it can be answered in several ways. If the question is “Is America overtly racist?”, one could truthfully answer “No.” But add one letter, “Is America covertly racist?”, the answer is very different.

Ramirez obviously saw the Trumpty-Dumpty white supremacist’s rally at the White House this weekend way differently than I did. Also obvious was how many of them came prepared and armed for violence. The fear of their shrinking relevance is making them insane as they believed Trumpty-Dumpty to be their savior. There is hope in the dwindling numbers of the Repugnantent’s base and the increase of our young ones growing up to see them as the hateful relics they are.

As the toon indicates, it is the younger set, the Xers and younger kids that aren’t racist as they have the experience with other races. The racists are those that are much older and have not had the personal experience to teach them about others different from themselves.

The art work is fantastic. The caption misses a possibly valid point that could be made; that there is hope the newer generations are much less subject to racism than their elders.

Ramirez did a good job. His comic does depict what I see with most these days. Sport heroes, movie stars, celebrities, business professionals, and other cultures are followed and idealized in the lives of all of us, I for one included, despite their ethnic background. I think, in my opinion, we have gone far in recent decades to try to move beyond color bias and just be people with our own attributes, based on my personal observations and experiences.

It depends on the individual, the groups they belong to, and support.

let us face facts, we are all racists to a degree. it is a facet hardwired into our brains since we came out of the trees and is still there. it is an “Us vs Them” mentality and race is the most easily identifiable sign of difference.

The democrats used to claim that color does not matter. Now they claim that it is all that matters. Obama and crew did more damage to race relations than any president since Lincoln. Don’t blame Trump, blame the folks who always have to put a hyphen before the word American.

Let’s see, when the Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act (thanks Clarence) Southern states acted immediately to reinstate voting restrictions. Though the stated goal was to prevent (nonexistent) voter fraud, the obvious goal was to prevent minorities from voting. So yeah, American racism exists. Then there’s all those millions who voted to reelect a cruel, blatant racist like Donald Trump.

The US has a lot of systemic racism. If it weren’t so, black parents would not have to have “the talk” with their kids about how to cope w/ police. If it weren’t so, Hispanic folks wouldn’t be so afraid of filling out their census forms because the fear being confronted by ICE agents, regardless of whether they’re citizens. If it weren’t so, then the number of black students in university would be proportional to the number in the population at large. And they wouldn’t be over-represented in athletics and under-represented in graduate school. And on and on and on…

Because one kid means Racism is Dead, right?
