I like the concept of this cartoon. But a part of me has to wonder: is it really a benefit to have a ready supply of Gut Grenades? I believe that one of the best things Russia has done for its citizens is to have run McDonald’s out of the country.
Well, there is precedent. During their “Great Patriotic War” (we call it “The Good War”, WWII), Stalin signed Order 270 which required superiors to shoot deserters on the spot. The families of those deserting would also be imprisoned.
Putin really must be nuts, sending unwilling recruits to join unpopular officers, and supplying the recruits with guns and other weapons… but likely without adequate food or shelter (blankets for the winter cold).
Could a new Russian “revolution” get its start among Russian “soldiers” in the Ukraine?

I thought that the fleeing Russian troops were leaving the guns and ammo behind so they could run faster.

Umm. No, if they’re retreating they are NOT carrying live ammo. Cute, though.

So, Russia is going to draft 300,000 anti Putin protesters and give them weapons. What could go wrong?

Russian reservists are being called up to face battle hardened Ukrainians. This is going to get uglier.

Putin must be wondering where’s the NKVD when you need them?

I keep recalling:
As a riot raged in southern Los Angeles, Calif., a man beaten by police after a high-speed chase asked for calm.
On May 1, 1992, Rodney King said,
“People, I just want to say, can’t we all get along? Can’t we all get along?”
