When I don’t (well, didn’t) get enough sleep, I’d find myself dozing off any time I was sitting. (Memories of sore ribs at the concert…). And I never did dink around w/ my phone in bed: That’s what a laptop is for, and I did it before bed. As for getting up a lot to p… I have solved the problem. Honest. I just use the facilities without ever fully coming awake. And since I’m usually in a dream (you know what it’s about, right?) when it gets urgent, I just quietly let the dream run on, and when I go back to bed, I’m still 75% asleep. I let the dream restart itself, and the next thing I know, I’m waking up in daylight.

Do old people really get less sleep? Because I get way more sleep than I used to. I have afternoon nap almost every day now.

Maybe what they all need is a Caulfield (don’t know how to spell his name) to bore them to sleep.

Same old story. I am a variety pack every morning. Rice Krispies joints while getting up, pudding shaped when I stand, and oatmeal for brains while trying to remember why I am up. But I still can put my pants on while standing up so it ain’t all bad.

Is the word “geezers” now a socially-accepted term of stereotyping and bigotry? I’d like to see any cartoonist get away with using the term “n*****s” (And I don ’t mean “nutters.”)

“Those are data” would be better. “Data” are literally “givens”. Yes? (Carry on.)

“It’s the coffee, stupid.”People drink it all the time and wonder why they don’t sleep.Maybe if they drank something else when they got home from work they could actually sleep when they go to bed.

Frazz 13 hrs · Sunday had been a big, busy day, even without the world being shifted off its axis by the growing realization that this novel coronavirus was the real thing. And I had a busy Monday ahead of me, so I made an effort to get to bed on the early side. My wife got into bed early, too, but there was a debate to watch on her phone. She was considerate about keeping the volume down, but Sanders and Biden were going at it pretty hard, and when voices take on that kind of strident tone, the volume might as well be cranked.

This is not passive-aggressive griping about my wife and her phone habits. No, this is about me being entertained by the realization that a political debate kept me awake late rather than lulling me to sleep ahead of schedule. The world really is off its axis.

I do have trouble sleeping. And it isn’t healthy. Most people need 8-10 hours every night.
