Joanie: Hello? Phone: Hello, Ms. Caucus? This is Ms. Huan, J.J.'s roommate... Joanie: Why, yes, how are you, dear? Phone: Fine, thanks. J.J. asked me to call you and tell you she just left for your place. She has to meet her boyfriend Zeke at the airport, though, so she'll only have about ten minutes for dinner. Joanie: Well, we'll certainly be looking forward to that, dear. Phone: She doesn't want anything fancy. Just a light salad.

So the guy that JJ left Mike and Alex for was someone she used to date? I thought she just picked him up in a bar or something. “Uncle Stupidhead” was already in the picture when I started reading Doonesbury.

J.J. rivals Duke, and the dictator whose name not even Mr. Mxyzptlk can spell, as the most selfish characters in the strip. Zeke would be up there somewhere, but he was always kind of lost in a crowd of his betters (or worsers…..)

I am definitely getting my timeline mixed up. JJ was with Zeke BEFORE she married Mike and they had Alex? Thus she leaves Mike to return to an old flame? Or is this post-Mike & JJ’s divorce?

My parents still have a rotary phone in their house.
