I think it’s cruel to boil any living thing while it’s alive.

Anyone know what the “D” stands for? (Not “dictionary,” evidently.)

In the good ol’ days—without computers—our rough drafts looked like that. Then we rewrote (or typed) our reports, term papers etc. to polish them up. Sometimes over and over.

At least he knows when he spells a word incorrectly! Most kids and teenagers either don’t know or don’t care. (I wonder if he used a thesaurus since he couldn’t find the dictionary…)

@SUSAN NEWMAN: Lobsters ain’t kosher because they have no scales, but the fact that they’re boiled alive is another reason not to eat ’em.

I always thought a Thesaurus was some sort of prehistoric animal.

I thought lobsters had to be thrown into boiling water, after stunning them for a few hours in a freezer! It sounds a dreadful thing to do anyway… I would not enjoy eating one either.

@Arye Uygur: I agree—I avoid eating lobsters and crabs because they are boiled alive. There must be a more merciful way to kill them.

From eHow:“Why are Lobsters Cooked Alive?”“For many, there is nothing like fresh lobster with butter, a delicacy that is worth the cost. Lobsters can fetch as much as $25 a pound if bought outside New England. Maine lobsters cost around $7 to $10 a pound depending upon the time of year. Lobsters can be shipped anywhere in the world if packed correctly. Directions that come with the packed lobster show you how to cook it. The lobster must be cooked alive because the meat will spoil otherwise. For some, this may seem cruel, but the lobster lacks a central nervous system. So go ahead, cook the lobster and enjoy the sweet meat.”

I know someone who bought a lobster and then felt sorry for it and didn’t want to cook it. She put it in the aquarium, and by morning all the fish were gone.

I agree, in real life, boiling a live animal is horrific. However, this is an extremely creative comic strip about a family I adore.
