I sure hope birds don’t eat bird eggs.

I feel like a spring chicken, cheapest gas I remember was $0.18 during “gas wars”. Hmmm, remember those, on street corners, no drones?

Those were the day my friend. We thought they’d never end.

And now its at a thieving $4.00 in Ohio sigh. Way to go gov, reason I think the gov influences it is because it always goes down during elections and up so fast when they are over.

THIS is a little sobering!!! I see MYSELF EXACTLY in the old coot’s position!!!! I listen to KCEA radio on www.kcea.org because it’s the only place you can still hear this kind of good music!!!!

Passed lane.

Todays generation has no idea what they missed! We could even disagree on politics and still be friends!

Except for the cigarettes part, this guy makes the past seem really good.

And 50 years from now the kids who are snickering over this will miss the “Good old Days” of $4.00 gas, games that were actually fun, Reality TV, mp3s, Kim Kardashian, and army boots on girls in frilly pink skirts.

Why is is that I can remember radio shows ( and their sponsors ) from the late 40’s and early 50’s but can’t remember what I watched on TV last night ?

Wait a minute…not so fast.You’re accusing me of being over the hill and well downhill on the far side, and then blame knowledge of 5 cent cigarettes on your grandfather telling you about such things?Especially since you revealed your avatar is a pic of your grandson, with whom you both enjoy scrapple at Habbersett’s in Clayton, Delaware?Knowing full well that there is no scrapple to be found in my area?Suspect a little more water has flowed under your bridge than you’re owning up to,here.

In the “past lane” folks used to also realize their were times to use the passing lane to make progress, but we were all heading the same direction for the nation, and each other. Today too many want to play chicken instead, not to PROVE courage, but avoid it.

Must thank you, though, for the info on Habbersett’s. Do intend to order some scrapple come Christmas, as it’s only available October through March by mail, and a bit pricy. Will opt for the $25 package at that time.Many thanks for the info on Habbersett’s .Was getting my hopes up when noticing the “store locator” at the site.Scrapple was almost within my grasp, only to have my hopes dashed…………“No stores in your area.”.Gotta wait ‘til Christmas.Thanks much for the info.Good luck with the Detroit fans.Your grandson’s pic is great as your avatar.Habbersett’s link is saved to “favorites” here.

Suspect you’re in the same boat as philyfanstukinmi and me, as suspect he’s not on the level about info received from his grandfather!We’re all stuck in the traffic jam in the past lane, but to be honest, am not made of stern enough stuff to be able to face what the kids of today will have to face in months and years to come, and do pray for them.Part of the reason behind some of my rants.Please know your poem regarding politics and slinging stuff, posted elsewhere, was copied by me, and is now on my refrigerator.Great stuff! Thanks much!

Had to revisit Habbersett’s site after making previous post,not wishing to wish away time, but looking forward to Christmas.Noticed that Habbersett’s was established in 1863.They knew good chow even back then.Though it’s not mentioned in the history books, suspect General Lee’s real motive in coming north in 1863 (Gettysburg, July 1st-3rd, 1863) was to get to Phily and get some scrapple for the troops. He knew good chow, too.Used to live in Lancaster 36 years ago, loved it there, the beauty of the area,and the Amish plowing their fields with teams of horses while traveling Route 222 between Lancaster and Reading.Have stood atop Little Round Top and remembered the great bravery of those who were there in July long ago.This comments section has really belonged to the past lane today.Look forward to the future, and scrapple coming my way!

I remember most of those things.However when I start feeling nostalgic I also remember that back then I would have died form skin cancer, but with modern treatments I’ve lived another 6 years,so far..That cures my nostalgia real quick.

Drive into a Clark gas station and get premium gas (all they sold) for $0.35/gal and cigarettes for the same price. When I worked at a local drugstore I could buy a carton of Old Gold filters for $3.26 and get a 10% employee discount.

That’s me, I can remember when cigarettes were 25 cents a pack and you could buy a hamburger. fries and a shake at McDonald’s for 45cents.

Gonna make you lose your mind.
