Nice Crimestoppers Textbook entry. Here in North Carolina, we have the uniformed Highway Patrol and the plainclothes NC State Bureau of Investigation. The latter tends to be understaffed and underfunded.
DoubleUp is going to be the death of somebody! Maybe himself. I don’t think Blaze Rize likes being tagged by his whip. Remember, the bigger they are, the harder they fall!
I’m sure she has a Lady Smith in her little purse. Whacking her with that whip might be Doubleup’s big mistake. After all, she’s in the company of “the man with the fuzzy n**s”, as they used to say.
No confusion here. I only wish we didn’t have to wait for this to play out! I want to keep reading and reading. This book would be way to good to put down. Come on, guys, how about that graphic novel?
So much for DoubleUp’s excitement over meeting a fellow geek. He’s a great character but if we know three more characters are going to die, I’d be okay with him being one of them (particularly over classics like Mumbles, BB Eyes, and LittleFace). TeeVo runs to the Panda Agency, the worst place for him to be right now. What a maroon.
Some people are going to get out of Panda’s HQ alive and I’m betting on Mylar and Blaze at least. I want to see what Tracy does with the Scarlet Sting clue.
GOT to give HUGE praise to mr staton for today’s strip. the artwork JUMPS off the page! the inker and letterer BOTH also deserve high mention for their work here as well (sorry i forget their names!) great wirting mike, showing doubleup is “more than just a pretty face” he’s also a cold hearted killer who will use whoever he can to get what he wants. a few days ago he “marked out” for the treerat, NOW he’s using him as a meat shield AND cracking the whip on blaze to boot! i’m laying odds on (NOT oddz zonn lol) doubleup being muerte chow courtesy of ms rize. one last note… i’m STILL in the top 20! lol!
Fantastic art! Joe, Shelley & Shane have really outdone themselves!Doubleup’s shilouette against the Scarlet Sting DVD scene is great, showing the violence, without showing it.And Doubleup has never – ever – looked more menacing than in panel 4! The DVD menu in the background is a great touch, with the red underscoring the threat (as in panel 1)!Love the shading and highlights! Great stuff, Shane!
Love the way this story keeps building! From master criminal to fellow comic book geek to hostage – Davey’s getting quick education on the realities of being a criminal! Why is Blaze protecting him? Doubleup has just jumped up from minor bad guy to one I’d like to see return! Really scary guy! Scary guy!No question, Teevo is doomed – but who’ll get him? Can’t believe how good this strip is!
I’ll probably be among the missing for a few days. We had a terriible storm here in Southern Maryland Friday night. They are calling it a derecho. No power and it might be several days before it can be restored. Meanwhile the extreme heat continues. I’m staying at my daughter’s house. The heat and darkness got the best of me!
My dad has all the Highway Patrol on DVD. I guess if the show’s writers were feeling mischevious enough (& it seems they often were) they’d involve Broderick Crawford in a foot chase.

As for this ‘1st’ thing, I’ve already read and commented on five comics before I came here. You guys just aren’t holding up your end. ;-)

It would be perfect if Blaze finished Doubleup with a double-barreled shotgun.

I think that the art in panel 5 , especially Double Up’s face, reflects on the artwork that Joe did for Marvel and DC Comics.Great job.

Way to go,Doubleup. Maybe Blaze will tell him that Davey is Mr. Crime. Using Mr. Crime as a Shield!

Blaze shot down Doubleup (so to speak) when he asked her out. I wonder if he’s planning a little payback? Payback?

I agree, I wasn’t sure who Double up was hitting with the whip, the red on Blaze’s arm doesn’t show up that well.
