or you could be a billionaire breeding horse for the royal family—and have the taxpayer joyously celebrate footing the bill for your living off their backs for 60 years
Hahahaha! Harley, you kill me. Do you remember months ago when I posted a very similar comment to yours lamenting the times when a man would get paid enough to support his family doing most any job? Do you remember ripping me in your post as being a liberal and going off on the term ‘living wage’ saying it was communist or socialist or whatever your favorite term was at the time?YAWN indeed.
About the “Living Wage”…It’s amazing that back in the 60s a guy working construction with a high school education could afford to buy a house and raise a family on a single income. Now, with lower tax rates, you need two full time incomes with college degrees to buy a house and raise a family. What went wrong?
bruce: nice to see you TOO were in the “I earn it, they spend it brigade”! Actually, my spousal unit always cared more about money, pinched it harder, and was a better “number cruncher” that I. In part because I never really cared about $$$ as long as the kids were doing okay and we had a roof over our heads, and food on the table.
Over the weekend, my son called to tell us about his Veterinary tech program, and that 21 of the 25 people in the program are women. My wife’s immediate response was, “That’s because it’s a low wage profession.” Well, actually not totally true, but it IS true, that the immediate “American” view is that women should only be in lower wage professions. We as a nation CAN do better, but not with our current House of Representatives, who only seem to represent special interests.
