Oh, Jimmy, sometimes you get me right in the heart. That’s right Arlo, sail right into the center of your life. Full speed ahead…

Make up your mind, Arlo. You want a boat or you don’t.

She wants a time-share condo boat He wants a new segment of his life to begin on the sea. There is major conflict here

It seems Janis wants it more than Arlo now. You cannot sail away from everything when you have a family. You can only escape for a little while. I agree with rustygate. Do it or don’t do it.

the problem with fantasies is they generally don’t hold up under scrutiny and in the real world Arlo has no idea what sailing at sea really involves.. escapism is only appealing for so long before it becomes unsatisfying for most. Janis knows what she wants and is at least realistic.

as the old saying goes, “A boat is a hole in the water into which you pour money.” Though it does give a nice place to stage visits from.

Sailing away from everything is like shooting up with smack, it’ll all still be there when you get back to reality. ;)

Sometimes the anticipation is a greater rush than the actual event.

An honest question: is it actually possible for a single person or even two people to manage the sails on a schooner?

Between Doones and A&J, this week’s leaving me all misty-eyed over my little friends in the funny papers…..

Yes a schooner can be sailed single / 2 handed if it is rigged to be run that way. Power winches and not racing make it a lot easier.

Am just starting to explore “Das Boat” as an alternate weekend reality. Has been funny\interesting to watch Arlo and Janis go through the same process. Art imitating life?

“Little Meg and… Others”? Remember what happened with Gene and Mary Lou in front of the fireplace a few weeks ago. Is Janis playing the seer??

Wonder if what Janis said about being “others” has anything to do with the alleged romp Gene and Mary Lou had down on the beach after skinny-dipping?

    Arlo will cave.

And, really, what place does adventure have in life? Better to play it safe and live the same life everyone else is living. It’s not like death is inevitable.
