A result of Bush not starting anything, but Obama is touting “private enterprise” in space supply. We’ve been hiring the French to launch satellites for quite some time. China could be next, maybe ATT and others might just contract with North Korea, and change their system through commerce??

We should have had private enterprise in space ages ago. I’m glad to see it. Too many people have written off space.

Keep privatizing what government used to do. Your pink slips will be in mail soon.

Need a lift to the space station? Rates just went up. Want to put something in space. Sorry, the Chinese have reserved the rocket ’till 2025. Profit first, patriotism sec…way down on the list.

No private company would ever have undertaken the basic R&D that it took to get the rockets up there in the first place. Space X only did what they did because NASA was required, by law, to share all their research, without patents, with private industry. If NASA had been able to profit from all the technology they generated, they could have gone it alone without taxpayer money.

IF “private” can do it cheaper, more power to ’em. The problem is that CONTRACTING ALWAYS costs more in the end for continuous projects.

Like mm, I’m glad to see Rutan/Bransen, and others entering the near Earth market, but it remains to government to do the deep space stuff that advances science, but doesn’t have the same “cost-benefit”.

“Business” DOES need to recognize what runar has pointed out, and folks on the “right” need to quit claiming only “private enterprise” will take risks, that’s pure bull!

Well, it worked — the Canada arm caught the Dragon at 9:53am EDT. I’m glad to see this; it means more jobs here in my neck of the woods!….and I have NASA-TV as part of my cable package; that’s how I know exactly what time it happened.

Ignorant can learn. Stupid, sadly are incapable of it. Don’t waste any more time trying to educate Ima.
