Bring back the Glass-Steagall act! After FDR introduced regulation, the boom-and-bust cycle of Wall Street and the economy leveled out, and banks didn’t go bankrupt regularly. Then Ronald Reagan started stripping out regulations. What happened? Boom, bust, boom, bust. Whaddya know. Put in some sensible regulation, dammit! Put BACK the sensible regulation we had before. The collapse of the economy we have just lived through was primarily due to the unregulated use of derivatives, and sensible proposed regulation on that very issue was blocked by Phil Gramm. And Romney wants to reduce regulation even MORE?
