Baldo, there is no you and Estella. She has a boyfriend that she probably likes more than you.

So are they using this drawing style because it’s Baldo’s fantasy? guest artist? or what? I like the other style better — this one’s not cartoony. I’m glad to see the regular Baldo over there on the right, under the “About Baldo” blurb — means they haven’t changed him permanently. Not yet, anyway.

Given the stilted dialogue and the drawing style, I think this is H&C’s homage to the “telenovela.”

I like the cartoon style graphics much better.

They seem to use this style when dealing with romance. Did the same thing a while back with Tia Carmen when she had a suitor.

So what she’s saying is “boy”-friend is just a figure of speech. A man is what she’s after.

This strip is starting to look like a soap opera. Please go back to the previous form of drawing. If i want a soap I will read Brenda Star.

Yeah, guys, the authors are cleverly showing us how Baldo sees himself and Estella. They didn’t just suddenly change the art. They use this device fairly frequently.
