Well, Rick, shoot the breeze with him a while; maybe you’ll get an idea for some lucrative war porn (you can put it out under a pseudonym, but the checks will still cash!)

Looking back, (waaay back) I see more of Jeff in me, than I see of Jeff in my own son. Which clearly means I did a better job of raising my boy than my father did of raising his. If only my dad had listened to my advice, I might be a better man.

He’s been given a stately home. Wonder what’s in store for him next – Drew?

Rick should leverage his blog at Huff to interview Jeff about his book.

Actually, you have to give Jeff credit . . . technically, he’s a ‘self-made’ millionaire. Better than these trust-fund inheritors, ranting on about “equal opportunity”.

I’m thinking that Jeff might actually have something useful to say to Rick. Let’s face it, the one edge that Redfern fils unquestionably has over Redfern père is in the arena of New Media. Jeff turned his (unpaid) blogging into a lucrative book deal, after all. Rick may not like it, but if he’s smart he’ll pay attention.

Jeff needs to learn more about MANNERS, not MANORS.

@Robin Westgate>> This is a quote from Mark Twain, isn’t it?

Not intentionally, but it wouldn’t be the first time I was an accidental plagiarist.

I remember this one attributed to M.T.:“When I was a boy of fourteen, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be twenty-one, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in seven years.”

Which I cut off a box of tea and sent to my father when I was 21.

Okay, let’s all take bets on Jeff’s outcome here. I’m betting that it’s going to be either:(1) This whole thing—book deal, mansion—has been another of Jeff’s fantasies, like the whole Red Rascal nonsense. Jeff is still pipe dreaming down in the cellar; or(2) The book deal based on his RR fantasy is real, but Jeff has done nothing to investigate what that mansion is going to cost him each month and he’ll get an eviction notice and be back in Rick and Joanie’s cellar in about 30 days.

Jeff should never have been born—-as he himself reflected on the occasion (1982? I don’t have time to look up the strip).
