I like when Oliphant shows his artistic chops, specifically his mastery of drawing anatomy in movement. The dog poses are great. I wonder if he modeled them from life or photographs.

This reminds me of a George Price cartoon that once appeared in The New Yorker:

A writer sits on the front porch of his house, at the typewriter, head in hands because he has writer’s block. Crumpled wads of paper are strewn on the porch. Dogs surround him in various canine occupations. From the doorway, his exasperated wife yells, “WRITE ABOUT DOGS!” Price and Booth drew the coolest dogs.

Romney could pull a “St. Francis” and preach to the dogs, assure them he has their doggy concerns in mind, eat a few dog biscuits, rub their bellies. I doubt at his age if he can lick himself in strategic places. A transcript of the speech would consist of barks, growls, and howls.

He’s pandered to every other group so far.

One of this times we might get a candidate whose private residence is near the White House, who prefers to spend vacations at home, and who needs only a short drive to travel there. No more frickin’ Air Force One or helicopter rides at tens of thousands of dollars an hour half-way across the country or the world.

Notice that the podium is on wheels? Should have drawn prince mittens dressed in roller skates too. New comedy sitcom for the masses, Dancing With the Curs.

I`m with Masterskrain on this one. I wonder if they will let Nute address the convention.

With opponents like this idiot, who needs to campaign?

And you’re lying, by the way. Obama’s been conferring with British PM David Cameron and Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, not going on vacation.

    The way his predcessor did

Out of kindness someone should tell Dr. Who that the other far-righties don’t talk about the amount of time presidents spend on vacation since Bush.

I think that dog on the far right, licking himself on the cajones, must be Santorum.

Speaking of dogs, the all-time master of dog cartoons was James Thurber, and we could really USE him in these treacherous modern times!

Very good points. Electable candidates are now very much less likely to come from east of the Mississippi. And yet it’s my fantasy that someday a president would be humble and frugal enough to put aside his or her own comfort for the duration of term in office. Why isn’t Camp David used more often? It might be a requirement that the president travel no farther for vacation than the Wisconsin Dells.

It would be something to see Secret Service agents following the President down a water slide.

you will never get the best person for the Job of POTUS. The best person is too smart to want the job. You would have to draft him or her, assuming we could ever agree on who that might be

No, we learned that calling yourself smart didn’t work by watching Dubya. Now Brother Jeb is smart enough to stay out of this race. He MAY be smart enough to stay out of politics altogether.

“… Calling yourself smart doesn’t make it so….” and the reason you are fit to pass judgement on others is?

@flake-6712 Obviously, Obama is NOT a “communist puppet”, and therefore we now know all we need to know about YOUR lack of intelligence (and your lack of connection to objective reality, for that matter). Obama is quite intelligent although he doesn’t really have the leadership qualities that you’d really want in a president. Probably he would have been better off staying in the Senate.

Always interesting to watch the rightwingers pick out one or two slips on the left and try to cover a truckload of thier own with them. Rather like watching Newt try on a bikini.

I hear the phrase “Republican voter” and I shudder. I fear for America if this is half of the electorate. They believe what they want to, facts be damned.

I would have to agree with Adams, particulary when applied to GWB aka The Shrub. I would even taken Tricky Dicky over him and I hated Nixon.
