But Barry has his fingers crossed (if you look closely) that his automatic suspension will kick in, returning him to a full upright position without any whiplash (over steer) or head droop (under steer). Then he can concentrate of the task of recovering the bookmark from the floor. Little does Barry suspect the importance of that seemingly innocent slip of foolscap.

Sarah Palin must have a new book out. Her last one was great, my desk doesn’t wobble anymore.

I understand that’s how Edward Casey used to glean his knowledge from books.

My bet: he’s either trying to read ‘Return of the Native’ by Thomas Hardy, or ‘The Worm Ouroboros’ by E.R. Eddison

Can you see yourself in Barry? Your concentration has slid off the arm rest, the head starts to bobble, the fan fades as the cool breeze washes the early evening away, the world becomes motionless and the next thing you hear…..”Wake up Barry, its time to go to bed”….Ain’t life good…..

Barry needs reading glasses with a more aggressive tread.

Stay like that long enough, and he’ll have to go into traction.

This would be I in the evening, except I read in bed and the book (or Kindle) falls on my face & wakes me.

April 15 is just around the corner so Barry’s trying to bone up on arcane sections of the tax code in order to complete the 1040 long form.

Barry’s got plenty of traction with his book. His face appears stuck to it.
