For those here who don’t seem to pay attention to the actual news, Fluke is a 30-year old activist who is complaining about the protected policies of a religious institution which she chose to attend. As much as Dems keep trying to make this about contraception (which is supported by EVERY current GOP candidate), the actual issue is whether freedom of religion still exists in this country. Don’t like freedom of religion? Fine – then the issue is whether or not the Constitution still applies to Barack Obama and Obamacare.

That’s a very important issue, no matter how much the Left tries to trivialize it. Well done, Mr. Lester!

And here I thought that no one could top Rush’s asinine remarks. Admittedly Obama can handle to criticism but this just doubles down on the insult to this young women.

Fact: Adults have sex. I’ll bet even this cartoonist has. Doing so would not make anyone a whore.Fact: Contraception is a standard part of modern health care – ask the Institute of Medicine.Fact: This young women main point was the need for access to these medications for other medical conditions.

As a physician, I support a women’s access to these medications, but even if you don’t the attacks on this women are cowardly and disgusting.

News flash: Now Rush has had to back off these comments, although the apology was typically lame and defensive.

There are many misconceptions (as it were) and misrepresentations in this debate. First, we’re not talking about a handout, and we’re not talking about tax-payers, we’re talking about insurance handled by private companies, and all the of the people who get benefits have paid premiums to the insurance company. The insurance company has figured out that they will in fact on average receive more in premiums than they will have to pay out in benefits, so they can make a profit. Second, some people have asked, “if a woman chooses to have sex, why should I pay for her birth control?” You could equally say, if someone chooses to go skiing and breaks a leg, why should I have to pay for it? Is there something worse about choosing to have sex than about choosing to go skiing? If we are going to have health insurance, then it’s going to cover things that any particular individual probably won’t need. But you buy the whole package precisely as insurance.

BHO was polling poorly with females. This was all a plan by BHO to increase his female support.

Fluke is an activist and was invited to speak by “Stretch” Pelosi.

BTW: Generic BC pills are available for free from many outlets and cost $5 a month at Wal-Mart. The institutions under attack do not deny BC pills for medical reasons.

4th When a “religion” denies health care to an employee (or student paying tuition) NOT of that faith, or who doesn’t agree with dictatorial policies of the employer, then THAT is the violation of the First Amendment.

actually they do deny them for medical reasons. try to get an abortion for an ectopic pregnancy from a catholic hospital. there was a big story recently about that. but more to the point….

so since a woman can get these medications at low cost somewhere else, just like men can for some of their medications – women should be inconvienineced. no problem for you. WHY SHOULD THEY BE,

There is absolutely no comparison between Rush’s hours long rant about a college student, attacking her, her morals, her parents even, and lying about the actual substance of her testimony and calling any woman on contraceptives a “slut” and Bill Maher calling Sarah Palin a “dumb twat.” Firstly, Palin is a ruthless snarky woman, who gives it out as much, if not more, than than she takes it and this girl is an innocent, who is not a public figure. Secondly, and most importantly, while I do not like the use of words like “twat,” and do not like that Maher called anyone that, he supports women’s rights stridently, Rush does not and has a long illustrious history of misogyny. What Rush said hatefully about women all these years would not be nearly as objectionable if he wasn’t so anti-women’s rights. So, between a lefty who occasionally hurls a sexist name, but who supports women’s rights, and Rush, who daily wallows in misogyny and doesn’t support women’s rights, there is absolutely no equivalency at all. This cartoon is vile and anyone defending it or the person who did it is complicit in the racism and sexism it perpetuates. Mike Lester’s wife, whether he beats you or not, your husband is a vile racist, sexist human being, and that should be enough for you to walk out. Apparently, you hate you own gender as much as he does, which is tragic.

And this whole issue of the church businesses and contraception has nothing at all to do with “freedom of religion” and everything to do with federal labor laws. Catholic hospitals and universities take gobs of federal funding and also are tax exempt, so if they are going to suck off the federal teet, then they are beholden to federal labor laws, like any of the rest of us who are employers. I can’t, as an employer, decide because of my religious views, to deny certain federal labor rights to my employees, to allow that would cause anarchy. What if a religion decides they are religiously for child labor, then do they get to overlook child labor laws? No, the answer is Catholic businesses, if you want to be free from all federal laws, then STOP TAKING FEDERAL FUNDING, until then, STFU and follow the law like the rest of us have to. Man, these right wingers will come entirely unhinged when insurance companies have to actually provide ALL services after the Affordable Care Act goes into full effect Jan. 1, 2014. This is unbelievable—first, women who have sex must be whores and now U.S. presidents who support women’s health care being fully funded are pimps (does anyone out there still not know that Viagra is covered by insurance but female contraceptives often are not?) . Talk about negative female and black stereotypes. I would find this funny if this kind of thing did not have real negative consequences for so many people. How did we return to that horrible time and place when women were supposed to be kept barefoot and pregnant?

Farely55, so if a religion forbids a child from going to a hospital and they die, it’s OK?.Also cab drivers with religions beliefs that forbid having dogs in the car or transporting alcohol don’t have to do this? (The law has said otherwise.).There is a balance of religious freedom and personal rights of others.
