Miss Missou popped in and out of the Steve Canyon strip for years. Team Tracy absolutely NAILED Hot Shot Charlie’s look.

Lizz never seemed to flash those eyes like she does now. Hopefully they won’t distract the guys from crime fighting.

It seems the colorist thinks Wingy and Lizz are the same person.

This rejuvenated Dick Tracy strip and Team Tracy are just getting better and better! What a trip, seeing Miss Poteet again! Reet Poteet! So many old memories stirred—when in AFROTC, I got to pilot a C-47 briefly, and a college friend spent his career in Africa in the Peace Corps ((only recently returning to the US). But I did not recall Bitsy. She must be flying for Hotshot Charlie, or at least somehow working with Hotshot Airlines! —Thanks, Tarry!

In the 1930s, the DC-3 was a two-engine propeller airplane that carried twenty-one passengers and cruised at 190 miles per hour. It was once the most popular plane for domestic passenger service but by the 1950s had been replaced by four-engine aircraft such as the Connie (Lockheed Constellation), which could carry a hundred passengers and travel at over 300 miles per hour

While Hotshot may be dressed in a uniform from the Ike era … that isn’t an Ike jacket .. it’s a leather flight jacket. I know because I spent many hours, in the air and on the ground, wearing one of those.

And so things tie together with the mention of Odds Zonn and Mr. Crime. Could Crime be on the way shortly?

@ Michyle GlenHotshot Charlie’s “look” – the hat, jacket and scarf are classics, just as Tracy’s yellow fedora and trenchcoat.And some of us (myself included) still use phones with cords (even though we have cell phones and computers).DC-3s are still flying (somewhere), and men’s suits still look pretty much the same they did 50-60 years ago. So Team Tracy isn’t taking too many liberties with reality – the technology may change, but people don’t.

In the 1985 story, Little Wingy was in love with “The Cipher”, AKA Normal Jones, the criminal Groovy Grove was chasing when he fell from a icy fire escape which led to his death. Lizz stopped herself from taking revenge on Jones when she had the chance. Maybe Lizz has blocked all these memories out… :-)

More trivia: The last time we see Gould’s Wingy is Dec. 25, 1959, seated at the Plenty’s table. On Dec. 14, 1960, B.O. establishes that Wingy’s aunt from Australia took her back home with her. Locher/Collins brought her back on Jan. 31, 1985, as a community college student.

Ol’ Milt Caniff used to summer at a ranch on my Sunday Paper route “back when” and me, being a cartoonist wannabee at the time, you can imagine the days when I went to collect my dues and the wobble-mouth conversations we had..Talk about being star-struck…. jeeez……

There’s an outfit in Canada’s Northwest Territories called Buffalo Air that flies DC-3s, a couple of DC-4s, a couple of C-46s, and Lockheed Electras. They evensometimes put skis on the DC-3s to land on frozen lakes where there isn’t an airfield.

One of my first airplane flights was on a DC-3 – they were offering rides over the city for the United Way. That was about 40 years ago and they were old then. Great plane but noisy as all get out.
